Double oven and hob no RCD

Hi We've recently purchased a new hotpoint double oven after our last one packed up. The guy from currys refused to wire it into the cooker low socket saying it will overload the circuit and blow the fuse and he's not qualified to take it on. So, gets 2 sparkies to come and quote the job...

    Starlings in loft

I'm fully aware of the fact it is illegal to move, destroy or interfere with a live nest hence not wanting to go near it. With regard to 'blocking them in' so to speak, I'm not sure how effective this approach will be. Basically, they've the entire run of the eaves boxing section (all 30ft of...

    Starlings in loft

Yep, I know exactly what you mean 100%. We thought it was the birds running on the actual roof but it's too loud for that. The box section contains the blown off/overfill beading as well from cavity wall insulation so I'm just hoping they don't wreck it. I hope they don't damage my roof tiles...

    Starlings in loft

It's definetly starlings as I went up and looked. The Juveniles are a greyish colour (4 in total). Mother has that distinct pattern (winter plumage with strikingly white spots) so unless I'm well off the mark with recognising species, it's them. I have an update as well. Spoken to neighbour...

    Starlings in loft

Hey all hope everyone is well and had a good xmas. Not sure if this is in right place (please relocate mods if it isn't). Basically, as the title suggests we have a family of these whom have nested in the very corner box section of the eaves on our bedroom side. It's inaccessible from the...

    Moving an aerial point

Hi SFK Quite the response! Thank you for taking the time to write that. I'm feeling a little embarrassed asking how to do an aerial. The SWMBO is now officially, on my case. Thinks I'm an 'expert'. :D I will nip out later and get myself the F connectors etc you linked to, even if in a pack...

    Moving an aerial point

I appreciate your suggestion however, this won't be a quick fix. I couldn't in all honesty live with seeing a link wire in an open space. As I understand it now, the connector block method won't work either. Can I just confirm if I go down the F type connector route as originally suggested by...

    Moving an aerial point

Are you suggesting this be done externally, hence plugs? That would look awful!

    Moving an aerial point

Thanks for the links. Just as a thought, could you not do away with the connectors and just simply double the coaxes up and put the shroud twisted together in one connector block and the inner core in another? Reason being, I'm just wondering how I'm going to manage to fit the connectors ect in...

    Moving an aerial point

Ok thanks. I can't find an appropriate 'inline connector' from a search. Could you kindly post a link of what I need. I might have a spare blanking plate lying around but no connectors of sorts.

    Moving an aerial point

But that makes the existing aerial point useless doesn't it?

    Moving an aerial point

Hi We're in the process of renovating our bedroom and have decided to wall mount our TV. There's an existing aerial point on the same wall as the proposed TV point and is not too far away. The wall thankfully is hollow. If I get a new single aerial box and cut it into the wall at the new...

Center Brand stat - strange behaviour with temp

Hey all I have a Flexiconn CX 30 that is controlled by a center brand stat from Plumb Centre. The stat is located in an acceptable position away from any direct heat sources, draughts or cold spots. It's worked pretty much flawlessly since it's install and as for the boiler itself, this is...

    Hotpoint FDL570 - Dispenser leak

I really do admire your honesty. Oh and not to mention, your enthusiasm for repairs! I'll know who to ask if I ever do get problems. I'll be around that's for sure it's a fantastic forum. Take care buddy and thanks for your time (y)

    Hotpoint FDL570 - Dispenser leak

I'll try and explain this as best as I can and if your struggling to understand, will happily post a pic. Where you pull the door open, the top of the lid that hides underneath the unit has 2 fabricated holes with piloted bits into the mild sheet metal lining. A self tapered screw binds the...

    Hotpoint FDL570 - Dispenser leak

Hi Dishman Thank you kindly for that video. I will most certainly check it out. However, please understand that due to having to modify the lid originally, I may have to put this down as a loss. Basically, I've had to pilot self taper screws in to the top as the control board retaining plastic...

    Hotpoint FDL570 - Dispenser leak

Hi Dishman. Sorry for the confusion but it isn't the circular cap that's leaking. The rectangular slit that sits to the left of it has the rinse aid coming out. Lid has to be flat to stop it. I appreciate your point RE all-in-one tablets as I've got the fairy platinum 10 function tablets...

    Hotpoint FDL570 - Dispenser leak

Hey all My trusted Hopoint Aquarius dishwasher has started to develop a leak. The rinse aid is coming out of the unit and gathering at the base. This is happening even when it's idle and I can't cure the trickling. I noticed yesterday the rinse aid refill light illuminated far too soon. What's...

    Disable ARC Texecom 24

So just to confirm, if I were to simulate an alarm, my fob/user code should reset the system OR do I require engineer code?

    Disable ARC Texecom 24

Right ok. Sorry for multiposting. Just figured it out. Global options>configuration>option 10>engineer only. Think I've got it right.
