Gutter leaking against neighbour's extension - advice, please.

Thanks, all. Decided to pop up and take a closer look/speak to the neighbour instead of spending all afternoon distracted by it. Turns out there is a very small ~5mm gap between the end of my gutter and the extension wall that is allowing rainwater through. Seems when the extension was built...

Gutter leaking against neighbour's extension - advice, please.

I recently purchased a semi-detached bungalow. Some years ago, my neighbours built an extension at the rear of the property at the boundary line. When I purchased the property, I noticed that there was some staining down the wall of their extension beneath the gutter stop-end where the guttering...

Stud frame against unheated/uninsulated garage wall.

    Nope, single skin block wall.

Stud frame against unheated/uninsulated garage wall.

I've just started refitting my garage to make it a little more functional. Part of this involves building a workbench and stud framed wall against the far end of the space. I erected and installed the frame this afternoon but completely forgot about installing a layer of DPM to the back of the...

Basic garage rewire and CU installation.

Good idea re: SFCU as a switch. Fingers crossed the sparky put in a 20a RCBO for that circuit. Will be cheap enough to have him swap it out if not, though! Cheers.

Basic garage rewire and CU installation.

Cheers. I'll probably replace it anyway as it's 40+ years old and starting to rust! Will likely just swap it with a rotary. If I go without the CU, I take it I can just take the FCU for the lighting circuit off the mains radial via a socket/junction box?

Basic garage rewire and CU installation.

I'd definitely be fixing an isolator of some sort at the very least. Unsure on the RCBO size (at work currently) but I assume 20A would be sufficient? The feed is 2.5mm at its narrowest (CU to SWA termination).

Basic garage rewire and CU installation.

I haven't measured it, but from memory I'd estimate that it's most likely 4.0 - possibly 2.5mm. The SWA terminates into 2.5mm T&E under the bedroom floor which has its external wall directly across from the garage. Again an estimate, but the garage is approximately 5M from the outside of the...

Basic garage rewire and CU installation.

I'm about to start the process of refreshing my single detached garage. Currently the power to the garage is supplied from an RCBO in the house, via SWA to an old metal clad isolator (FCU?) similar to this: Which then feeds out to a couple of lights and a double socket. The plan is to fit a...

Bathroom exhaust to old Ridge/Flue vent?

I previously purchased the 100mm fan back in June, so not really an option to return it and upsize. Coming to the end of the renovation now, so as you can imagine, money is pretty tight!

Bathroom exhaust to old Ridge/Flue vent?

Currently in the final steps of renovating a late '70s/early '80s Bungalow. The property originally had a warm air heating system powered by a gas boiler which was vented through the loft space via a 125mm flue and out of a vented ridge tile in the roof. The old warm air heating system has been...

Hairspray/Hairgel for Pan connector to WC spigot?

The soil pipe is located in the floor directly below/behind the toilet, so gravity is very much on my side in that regard! My primary concern is ensuring that the pan to pan connector connection is solid. I'm yet to build the cabinet for the cistern and offer the toilet up, however It's almost...

Hairspray/Hairgel for Pan connector to WC spigot?

I plan to fit my first toilet in the next week or so and just studying the steps involved before I jump in. I've noticed in a number of videos that some form of lubrication is often recommended for the interface between the toilet spigot and pan connector to ensure a proper fit. Back in my...

A reliable damp-proofing paint/liquid coating that does not require plastering/screeding?

I suspect 'water-resistant' would have been more accurate! Thanks all for the input. The damp isn't particularly serious, really. I think I'm going to go with Zinsser Waterite for the short term until I can excavate around the rear of the building and DPM it from the outside.

A reliable damp-proofing paint/liquid coating that does not require plastering/screeding?

That's the long term plan. I'm basically just looking for something that will keep the damp at bay for 6 months or so until I can excavate.

A reliable damp-proofing paint/liquid coating that does not require plastering/screeding?

Afternoon, all. my detached garage sits below the ground level of the garden and acts as a retaining wall towards the rear of the building. This has resulted in some minor damp ingress during wetter times of the year (mostly at the internal corners). I'm looking for a product that I can paint...

Triton push-fit bar mixer bracket dilemma

So it's in! Definitely not the most straightforward of installs, but it all came together pretty well. I can imaging things being a bit of a disaster if any of the measurements are out. But obsessive measuring and re-measuring paid off in the end. Had another bash with the superseals but...

Triton push-fit bar mixer bracket dilemma

It's installed in the partition wall between the bathroom and the bedroom. No direct access, but easy enough to cut a hole in the wall should something spring a leak. It's behind the bedroom door, so would probably just pop an access panel in if it came to it. The installation criteria is a bit...
