Double socket from light in garage?

Yep. Dumb reply..... So run the wire and trunking around the garage and connect to double socket with FCU?

Double socket from light in garage?

It would indeed be foolish but as I said in my original post the wire is to an outside light and is not part of the garage circuit. The reason I thought of taking it from the outside light as it is right next to where I want socket. I can run it from the other garage socket but that is on the...

Double socket from light in garage?

I need an extra double socket in my garage, the wire for an outside light is right next to where I want the double socket. If there is a neutral can I take a spur from the lighting wire though an FCU and to a double socket?

Adding PIR to lights in garage

I’m guessing a microwave sensor is that sensitive that even when working on stuff in the garage/workshop your not going to have a problem with it suddenly going off?

Adding PIR to lights in garage

Does that have an override Harry? Link to what you have? Photo? Thanks!

Adding PIR to lights in garage

Thanks I will have a look at that. EDIT - I think a PIR/Microwave that works the main lights but that could be overridden would be better for my needs. Would LEDs being turned on and off quickly and fairly regularly shorten their lifespan? Our garage has our extra fridge freezer, dry food...

Adding PIR to lights in garage

Following on from my eventual success with the LED battens in my garage. Is it easy to add a motion sensor/PIR to turn them on as someone walks in to the garage? Has anyone done this? Thanks!

Garage Batten - flickering LED's now I have replaced Fluro.

SUPERB clear instructions that were easy to follow. I have learned a lot in the last 24 hours and not given myself 240 or burned the house down. Quick check. Am I OK linking everything with choc blocks or should I use something more substantial? Thank you SO much EFL and everyone else that...

Garage Batten - flickering LED's now I have replaced Fluro.

Superb - So one set of blue and brown are giving me continuity - I do not have a beep on the meter but they registered in the low 0.100's. The others did not register at all. I have marked that as the switch.

Garage Batten - flickering LED's now I have replaced Fluro.

Can you talk me through that please? Sorry I had the power off and was testing each blue cable in turn using the multimeter set to Ohms - red lead to a blue and black lead to an earth in the twin and earth. That is probably totally wrong so I would appreciate a dummies guide. So far the only...

Garage Batten - flickering LED's now I have replaced Fluro.

With the power off I have tested the 4 blue wires. Only 1 is giving me a reading. I marked that blue as the switched live. When I then traced those cables back they are both coming from the same cable.. The blue permanent live and earth from another unmarked cable are the only ones giving me a...

Garage Batten - flickering LED's now I have replaced Fluro.

Many thanks for everyones helpful comments and for not being too hard on me! I am working through SUNRAY's helpful guide above now. I have identified the live feed (brown wire) and labeled it 1.

Garage Batten - flickering LED's now I have replaced Fluro.

I took the light apart and it looked as I did it as if all the blue wires were in the N and brown the L at the batten. My mistake! There is one light switch with just brown blue and earth. The garage is part of an extension and is on the same circuit as the kitchen. That is the 4th cable in...

Garage Batten - flickering LED's now I have replaced Fluro.

There is just one switch. That is the fitting bottom left. I added in a brown live to the switched live and both battens worked. Thought I had it but the problem is that both lights are on while the switch was off.... Is there an idiots guide to using a multimeter to check the four incoming...

I found the switched live or so I thought. This light is working fine but the other light is not working at all

Garage Batten - flickering LED's now I have replaced Fluro.

Yesterday I replaced one of my 2 Fluro battens in my garage with a 60W LED. This was the more complicated one (lots of wires) or so I thought but I had it working fine after a little patience. Today I have gone to replace the second fluro and what I thought would be a simple job - only 3 wires...
