Putting power sockets in the loft

Hi All, sorry for the lack of updates. I've had this awful bug that's been going round but now on the mend. I checked earlier and the immersion switch in the main electric box is 16A. Will it still be OK to use this switch in the cupboard to run power into the loft or will I need to get...

    Loft lighting question

Thanks for the reply. An earth cable will be available when I run the cable to the lamp but it will just be terminated so if in the future it is needed it will be there and all I have to do is hook it up. Thanks again. Kindest Regards, Brett

    Loft lighting question

Hi All, I bought these lights to put up in my loft (https://www.screwfix.com/p/4lite-advantage-twin-4ft-led-ip20-batten-30w-3600lm-220-240v/939kk). The tail that's pre-installed on them is only short and I want a longer piece on to give me a bit of room to work. What size flex can I use to...

Putting power sockets in the loft

Hi All, Thanks for the constructive discussion in this thread, been a pleasure to read. I now have a another question related to the original topic. The immersion heater switch has a back box recessed in the wall. The wire that I need to being down from the loft needs to go in some trunking...

Putting power sockets in the loft

With regard to to the heater I'm planning on putting more insulation down and adding to the 100mm (approx) already up there and possibly using something like the superfoil bubble stuff stapled to the rafters. Should provide an ambient temperature up there. Previous owner boarded part of the...

Putting power sockets in the loft

Hi All, I want to put a model railway in my loft but there is no power sockets up there. I've read the pros and cons of taking power from the lighting circuit and I think this is a no no from what I've read on here and other forums. I have, however, got the old switch in the airing cupboard...

    Central heating query

Hi Everyone, I've got a central heating query. My house is a detached house and has a odd floor plan. My living room is open plan with the stairs leading into it. There is a door that leads to the kitchen, then there is a door that leads to the front door. A little porch if you like. This...

Smart Thermostat for Ideal Vogue C32 Boiler

Hi Everyone, I have a Ideal Vogue C32 combi boiler which was installed in March 2015. Not sure if it's GEN1 or GEN2. However, I would like to upgrade my current Ideal PRT4 wireless thermostat to a smart thermostat. What options are available to me for doing this. I've seen there are ones by...

    Ideal Vogue Combi C32 Boiler

I don't know, the manual for the thermostat does say that it does (on the veryblast page of the manual). I'm pretty sure it's plugged into the opentherm plug for it to work. How would I check?

    Ideal Vogue Combi C32 Boiler

Yes I believe so. I don't know I'm not the one doing the service. The guy who installed it is a registered gas safe engineer and it is him that does the service. I've stood and watched a few times and there is quite a bit of it taken to bits and cleaned out etc.

    Ideal Vogue Combi C32 Boiler

Unfortunately the manual for the thermostat isn't that helpful with descriptions of what a certain setting does. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/870058/Ideal-Rf-Electronic.html

    Ideal Vogue Combi C32 Boiler

The service takes just over an hour usually and during this time the cover is taken off and all the internals cleaned out, Gas Readings taken, pressure check etc. It is the most thorough job I've seen.

    Ideal Vogue Combi C32 Boiler

This is the thing, when it's on continuous it doesn't turn off when it reaches the target temperature. However, when it's on timed setting it does turn on and off as required at the specified times but again, not when it reaches thebyarget temperature. The boiler is still active with a demand...

As stated towards the bottom of my post the boiler has had a regular service every year since installed. With the first being in 2016.

    Ideal Vogue Combi C32 Boiler

Hello Everyone, I wonder if anyone can offer any advice. I've got an Ideal Vogue Combi Boiler (C32) and with all the recent cold weather we've been having our house has started to get very cold. As we run our own business from our house we are here 24/7. We have had the programmable room stat...

    Ideal PRT4 thermostat

Right, I see. So if I've got the on temps set to 19c then when the boiler comes on at the time specified it will get up to and maintain that temperature. I have the off temp set to 13 degrees. So if the room temp drops below 13 then the boiler will kick in to maintain that temperature. I think...

    Lighting in the loft

Hi Everyone, Quick update on lighting in the loft. I've installed the light but it is strobing when the switch is switched on. I've the source from the bathroom light but I think I've used the bathroom light switch wire for the power source. When the bathroom light is switched on, the loft...
