Tile just to bath or to the floor

Is it better to tile all the way to the floor or should I tile just to the bath edge (or does it not really matter eitherway?!) Once bitten, twice shy. My last bathroom was tile to the bath only. Had terrible problems with water getting under the bath seal and damaging the wall, so much so...

    New Roof Required ???

Whilst in the process of replacing my soffits and facias, my roofer suggested that I have the whole roof replaced as the underfelt had a number of fairly minor cuts and holes. He's quoted me £1800 including tiles and VAT. Sounds like a bargain to me, but is the job really necessary. Like I...

    Hardi-Backer Board

Cheers Arctic, sounds good enough to me! Just had the boards delivered and was quite suprised at how heavy they are. I was planning to mount the boards onto a stud wall made from 3x2 then tile afterwards. Is 3x2 ok to support such weight?

    Hardi-Backer Board

Anybody know how to seal the joints in hardi-backer board. The webpage suggests using alkaline tape. Is this the same as normal plasterboard joint tape?

    Bath Frame

I've notice that most acrylic baths I have seen fitted have timber strengthening frames to prevent the bath flexing. Is this just a feature of cheap baths or is it good practice to put a frame together whenever you install a bath? Any tips on building a frame?

    Radiator Removal

I simply turn the thermostatic valve on the radiator to zero (i.e. off!) and close the lockshield valve at the other end. This effectively isolates the radiator from the system so it can then be uncoupled, slowly at first (1/8th turn) to release the pressure, whilst draining the radiator into a...

How about green (moisture resistant) plasterboard instead?

    Rotting Roof Timbers

Thanks for the response. Price includes all materials plus VAT. The house itself is a small 3 bed detached. Unfortunately, I have to agree the price before they do the work. I wouldn't want to get into a dispute after the event by not paying. Is trhere an ombudsman or similar where I...

    Rotting Roof Timbers

Help please !!! I've currently got company in fitting new uPVC soffits and facias. However, on removal of the barge boards from the gable end it has been found that the end timber is rotten underneath (not sure what this piece is called?). I've been told that these will need to be replaced at...

    Tiling directly onto plasterboard

Simple question this ... Is it OK to tile directly onto plasterboard (with primer) or would I be better off skimming first? (p.s. The wall is to be used as a shower wall so would I be better off using Aquapanel instead? Cost puts me off a bit though!)

    Extractor fan in bathroom

True. You need a low voltage ventilation fan. Cost approx £70 (Xpelair LVDX200) but you may find cheaper. Fitting is a very simple job particularly given that you already have a fan installed.
