    One plug socket lost power

No it didn't trip, I was asking whether it should normally. Or does it just catchfire? So it's the main fuse board and the breaker had "kitchen ring" written underneath.

    One plug socket lost power

Thanks, would a loose connector normally trip the circuit? I am guessing I shouldn't be using the socket? I've got a fridge full and cannot reach other outlet

    One plug socket lost power

Would this allow the plug to work again after being reset at the fuse box? I would of thought if it was loose it wouldnt work either way.

    One plug socket lost power

Hello, So I noticed the light in my fridge wasn't working. I assumed the fridge was broken but tested the socket with a hoover to be sure. That didn't work either. I tried the fridge on a standard wall socket and that worked fine. In short it seems the plug socket was at fault so I checked the...

Cant find cause of leak under balcony

A very good point, but the building is fairly new and nothing has shown up until the last few weeks. Wouldnt condensation of been present from day 1? The fact there is a hole in the corner (even if it is small) and it's only 10-20cm from the location of the leak cannot just be coincidence...or...

Cant find cause of leak under balcony

Cant find cause of leak under balcony

Abit simplistic... considering I've tried to make this area leak already.

Cant find cause of leak under balcony

So you think that split is big enough for that stain?

Cant find cause of leak under balcony

Well in normal heavy rain the leak doesn't show. Only in South Westerly high winds and rain. My original thought was the railing must be screwed Into the structure which would break any waterproof membrane. If sealant is missing maybe water is getting blown in that way. Surely the railing...

Cant find cause of leak under balcony

Hello, Another winter ... different leak! This one is a different room directly underneath the edge of a balcony where the the rail is. I've pulled some of the decking up and tested all the seams and the areas in the photos with a hairdryer to create wind and cannot make it leak. It...

Leaking wall during wind driven rain.

Sorry yes i remember I had another 2 threads on this. I should of posted it there, apologies. The reason for asking again is because I've had a quotation to install lead flashing above the rubber upstand (even though this rubber is chased into the wall) and to seal the wall with a masonry...

Leaking wall during wind driven rain.

Hey, After some advice. I have a balcony which leaks into the room below during wind driven rain. I have used sealant on the flashing which has reduced it somewhat but not eliminated it. It's 100% not the roof itself as the water can been seen dripping either side of the metal beam...

    Colour matching mortar

Hello, I've decided to try and patch point or "touch up" a small area of a wall. I need some advice on the best way of colour matching mortar. I've attached a photo of the type of colour which is a coarse sandy grey colour. Someone recommend 4 parts yellow sand, 1 part sharp sand and master...

    Penetrating damp question

It's not so much adamant but more paranoid! The problem is I know they should be there but I'm not sure if that is the underlying cause of the leak. Also most builders shy away from retrofitting cavity trays and treat it as not a big deal which is making it impossible to move forward.

    Penetrating damp question

The Cavity tray situation is strange....the wall has weep holes 4 bricks from the top all the way along and there are weep holes over the balcony door. There are however no weep holes at the base of the wall near the flashing so they have either forgot to put cavity trays here or they have put...

    Penetrating damp question

Hey, I did contact the warranty provider who told me to get quotes to fix the issue which is easier said than done. I have had builders / roofers / carpenters inspect who can't point to any flaw without tearing the area apart which I am hesitant to do because as you pointed out i don't want to...

    Penetrating damp question

Hey, Property is 6 years old,( covered by 10 year warranty but need quotes first so I can claim once this is done b) It's a 3 storey house with a balcony and the wall is supported by 2 rsj beams and a room directly underneath. I've attached a pic of the wall and room below. It's worth...

    Penetrating damp question

Hey, I'm looking for a little guidance and hopefully first hand experience. I had a terrible leak from a cavity wall onto a ceiling below. At a guess I would say 3-4 pints. I'm sure this wall has no cavity trays at the base of the wall ( it does just below the roof) and im trying to figure...

    Leaking flashing

before i applied the sealant, the mortar had definitely eroded away in some places. It also seems to have no grab on the cover flashing which makes me think it should of been sealant all along? so my theory was rather that removing all the mortar and possibly making the leak happen more often...
