    Gap below internal kitchen door

Hello, There’s a 2cm gap below the internal bog-standard door. It’s always been there. Selling soon so not wanting to outlay on a new door, but the cooler air from the kitchen comes into the living room and is annoying. I’ve looked at brush pile strips but they only seem to go up to 5mm. Is...

Hot Water not enabling while central heating running

o_O I hope so...! This is how I believe the installation has been since the house was built... we have had it for about 7 years. it’s an ex showhouse from the 90s but you wouldn’t think it with the amount of things I’ve had to sort out. I believe the boiler itself was replaced in 2010.

Hot Water not enabling while central heating running

The Nest was installed about 4 - 5 years ago by an “electrician” arranged by First Utility. He brought his “tools” in a single use Tesco carrier bag. Demonstrated the system “working” and then left. I realized later that the heating and hot water were wired back to front. After trying to get...

    Fitting Fluidmaster Pro75

It’s the bit circled in the new attached pic which is confusing me. There’s already an isolation handle which I can turn the water off with. When I then use a spanner and turn the nut circled, the whole ballcock and valve turn with it. I stopped short of taking it off at this point as if I...

    Fitting Fluidmaster Pro75

The plumber only replaced the ballcock and metal rod. The valve wasn’t taken off and replaced. I didn’t realise this at the time and am pretty annoyed about it now. The problem had been that the bolt for the ballcock had rusted and fallen off.

    Fitting Fluidmaster Pro75

Andy, thanks but I want to do away with the float valve and fit a silent fill as we can hear the tank filling too. Should have mentioned that point, sorry. Also, the ballcock was replaced when we moved in 6 years ago and I’m surprised the plumber didn’t replace the whole thing at the time.

    Fitting Fluidmaster Pro75

The current ballcock valve started making a “foghorn” sound during the night recently. Looking into it, it is the valve which has aged and needs replaced. Having looked on this forum, the Fluidmaster was the recommended part for the job...

    Sink cutout marginally too big

Hello, 1000 x 500 sink. Replaced an old plastic synthetic style sink with a stainless steel one.... this has a fault where it is scratching with the slightest knock (not the cheapest either!!) and is going to be getting kicked down the street once the retailer refund the money. The worktops...

**SUBJECT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEARER - TRYING TO REMOVE 1 GANG 2 WAY SO LIGHT ONLY CONTROLLED BY DOUBLE POLE SWITCH** Hello, I have a Double Pole switch at DOOR 1 controlling two bars of GU10 LED Spots (4 on each bar). One bar is on an independent circuit which is working fine, but the other is...

    Ronseal Dark Oak Satin

Thanks. I’ve read the spec sheet for it and it does say that it will show through any blemishes etc which are below it. The problem is that there are some bits I’ve had to sand back to the wood as the instructions say, but when you paint it, the sanded bit is a lighter colour! How can I overcome...

    Ronseal Dark Oak Satin

Hello I’ve painted my fence using Ronseal Dark Oak. The window frames need painted too, but Ronseal only seem to do this in a satin which is drying with a “wet looking” finish. is there anything I can do to overcome this, or an alternative manfacturer paint very similar to this colour? FYI...
