    Somethings wrong the dishwasher smells

Sounds feasible. All things considered assuming the flex and plug is rewired will the appliance be safe? Thanks.

    Somethings wrong the dishwasher smells

So for a while the missus has been moaning about, amongtother things, a funny smell when the dishwasher is on. Covid robbed me of my sense of smell so I ignored her because she's sensiitive to smells and aftershave can give her a migraine. Anyhow, being insured with Currys I've cslled thre...

What sort of fitting is this? Bayonet?

well I always employ caveat emptor, and have sourced a reputable company locally. Corgi? guess I'm just showing my age. you'll be telling me they've moved on from 16th Edition elec regs next.

What sort of fitting is this? Bayonet?

Currys aren't going anywhere near it. Ringing a guy tomorrow to alter pipework, commission the new range cooker and associated testing.

What sort of fitting is this? Bayonet?

Fair enough. What do you reckon a plumber would charge to fit a bayonet fitting to existing pipe? They're based in Derbyshire.

What sort of fitting is this? Bayonet?

They're replacing the hob with a range cooker that will have a rubber hose with bayonet fitting. Just wondering if this is a bayonet that has been gummed up with paste. Definitely will be getting a Corgi reg guy in if any permanent joints need doing.

What sort of fitting is this? Bayonet?

Daughter is fitting a new kitchen, or rather her long suffering husband is. They've comne to take the existing hob out and come across this. We suspect it is a bayonet type but the gas putty points at another direction. The chap who had the house previously was, and employed, every bodger known...

It's all going to the HSE, let them deal with it.

Your opinion on the safety and legality of this board please.

I hear you, and thanks for the advice. Not being an electrician I had limited access to those in the know, hence the post here. Wheels are set in motion as we speak. Thanks to everyone who has contributed. Mods please close the post.

Your opinion on the safety and legality of this board please.

Okay. Time to clarify some things, and thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. The person involved is a close relative, it's their place of employment, and it's they who got a nasty shock off a microwave which required hospital visit. Can't rely on them informing HSE - beyond incompetent...

Your opinion on the safety and legality of this board please.

Can't be certain on the prongs going into the 16amp breaker. There is NO busbar cover. This distribution board is serving a multi-level business with many sockets and equipment running off them. Would this level of bodgery be sufficient to warrant a report to HSE?

Your opinion on the safety and legality of this board please.

I know someone who recently had an electric shock at work when they used the microwave to the extent it damaged their finger nail and required a hospital visit. On checking the distributionn board sparks were emitted and it was found to be 'interesting', as in the attached picture. Idiot...

Hive removal - rough idea of cost?

the HIve system was in when she bought the house but the controller was faulty so she bought a new one and set off but she's had nothing but glitches with it and just wants a wireless stat in the lounge area. I'd probably have to get an electrician in as being senile due to old age (I'm 57 and...

Hive removal - rough idea of cost?

Hi, my daughter wants to remove the Hive controller from her heating system and have a standard thermostat fitted. Roughly how long a job is it and what would be a likely charge by a qualified spark? We're in Derbyshire. Just trying to avoid getting ripped off. Cheers.

    Mitre saw cutting path

Hi, got a slightly curious one. I have a Metabo 216mm sliding mitre saw. Apart from the fact it needs regular adjustment to stay true it cuts well, all except when on a 45degree cut. Cut a 45 degree mitre on some 6" skirting board and there's a pronounced arc of the path before it straightens...

No I just have a son who needs to fry every meal hence the need for an extractor fan. Recommendations on live wire detectors would be welcome.
