How to get rid of marks on fence from where the timber has been sitting on battens before installing?

@conny Thanks.. not wanting to paint or stain it as I like the natural look of it and it is already pre treated. Just wondered if it will fade naturally with weathering or even if it lightens over time if it will still be obvious. Or if there is anything I can do without painting it.

How to get rid of marks on fence from where the timber has been sitting on battens before installing?

We have just installed a new fence. The pre-treated timber was sitting outside for a couple of days sitting in piles separated by battens. It was raining overnight and not sure if this contributed to the issue. Now we have noticed loads of stripes over the fence which must have been caused by...

Advice on building a patio in a garden sloping towards house?

Thank you. I just don't like the idea of the slope towards the house and think I will have a slope away from the house with an aco channel along the patio adjacent to retaining wall (have changed to brick wall instead of timber which will have weep vents) linked to drains where downpipes goes...

Advice on building a patio in a garden sloping towards house?

Yes I have read them. Maybe I'm not understanding something. But what I'm trying to say is that currently my lowest point of the ground in my garden (i.e. the lowest point of the sloped grass near the house) is the same height as the top of air bricks (air bricks are below ground level). The...

Advice on building a patio in a garden sloping towards house?

The problem with that is I think the only way I can not have a gravel border is by significantly lowering the ground level due to the air bricks being so low. There would be a huge step out of my patio doors and also a higher retaining wall.

Advice on building a patio in a garden sloping towards house?

Thank you. One of the landscapers did mention an aco channel when I said I was concerned but they don't look great. If I did this would you recommend it being in front of my gravel border adjacent to the house with the slope of the patio towards the house, or in front of the retaining wall with...

Advice on building a patio in a garden sloping towards house?

I am in the process getting quotes from landscapers to have a patio installed in my garden. Currently, my garden consists of turf on a fairly steep slope towards the house. The house is a new build so I'm guessing the soil quality is poor and is mainly clay based. My house has air bricks near...

Advice on humidity/ moisture content of new build house please?

Advice on humidity/ moisture content of new build house please?

Been in a new build house for almost 3 months. It was built during a wet winter. I understand it could take at least a year for the house to dry out. Our bathroom (upstairs) has no window. We have been doing everything possible to keep the moisture content of the house low - wiping up excess...

How to swap standard pendant light fittings to spotlight plates?

I'm in a new build house and would like to swap out my pendant light fittings in my hallway and upstairs landing. I would hire an electrician to do this but just would firstly like to know if it's a simple enough job or if it's more complicated/ their position may need moved/ ceiling needs cut...

What would cause this (drywall seam?) to suddenly become visible?

It's difficult to see in a photo but it's a ridge protruding from the wall which makes the wall un-level

Could this be due to a leak behind my wall?

Sorry I already posted this thread in building thinking it was a structural problem but now realised it could be a plumbing issue. https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/what-would-cause-this-drywall-seam-to-suddenly-become-visible.570262/ Thank you

What would cause this (drywall seam?) to suddenly become visible?

Just moved into this new build house a few weeks ago but this has become apparent in the wall only this week. Just wanted to know if it's any cause for concern or normal due to the house settling, and what will need to be done to fix it. Thanks. Edit: there is also a subtle bubbling effect...

Would you call this engineered wood?

@johnny2007 I know I really regret it now. Was trying to get something cheap as just bought my first house and needed flooring for the whole house and really wanted engineered wood but know it's usually so expensive. Should have known this is too good to be true. It will actually cost me more...

Would you call this engineered wood?

@Tigercubrider it compares it to a "traditional engineered wood floor" but I feel the retailer will probably say it's some form of engineered floor as it doesn't say otherwise, but worth a try
