Extending switch cable and burying connection

Hi We have knocked a wall down and need to join a triple 2 way switch. Now the issue is we have this timber which we are happy to just make good with plasterboard and have a slight drop between the two rooms. We don't think it's worth the hassle involved to make it flat. The trouble is I need...

    Bathroom extractor gone bang

It wasn't a puddle in the fan just a coating of condensation on the terminals if that makes sense?

    Bathroom extractor gone bang

Bathroom fitted 2 years ago. Fan never was right so they replaced it 6 months later. Just a regular 240v extractor on the ceiling that has a humidity sensor. Anyway it's gone bang today. I had a fairly long fairly hot shower. It has condensed inside the housing and directly shorted the live...

    2 Post lift control box

Thanks for the replies lads. I will say I'd definitely do it if it was just me using it but on reflection and after some of your comments we've ordered a new lift. Not the same and I bet it is nowehere near as sturdy but it's officially safe.

    2 Post lift control box

Apologies, the diagram is slightly drawn wrong, I was thinking of a toggle switch up and down so it can't be pressed together. Originally the board had one reversing contactor and two seperate contractors. When one went out of sync it would drop one contactor so the other one would catch up...

Cutting out a concrete floor to lower it

We are installing an MOT bay. We are doing it ourselves with the help of a builder. I will obviously discuss all this with him but I am trying to work out ROUGH costs and he is away at present. We have a concrete floor that is approx 6-8 inches thick. We need to make a bay approx 7 inches...

    Theoretical question on a spur

Makes perfect sense of course. Hence why you can't spur off a spur! Cheers

    Theoretical question on a spur

Purely theoretical, I've had some work done at my unit and have a question after he's finished. Nothing to do with his work at all but theoretically, if you put another socket in your home and do it via a single wire spur then that socket obviously has limited load capacity. Why can you not...

    Drilling through rebar

Installing a 2 post lift and have an issue that we keep hitting rebar. I need to drill 8 holes that have all hit rebar. We are using a Hilti SDS Plus drill. Hilti do some bits they reckon will do it. I bought a “rebar cutter” for 50 quid and it blunted almost instantly. Load of rubbish. I have...
