Pulsacoil taking 3 hours to fill a bath.

By the way, when the bath is full and the water from the tap has turned cold, I sometimes put the boost on and quick heat it up while I take a bath so I can shower off after my bath and it does heat the water up again. I don't know if the boost uses the lower or upper element though so I don't...

Pulsacoil taking 3 hours to fill a bath.

I don't have E7. It's the same cost day or night for my electricity. The reason I turn the three switches off when I'm done with my shower or bath is that the timer has three timer settings. So I usually have the 2nd and 3rd one set to something like 'on at 8am and off at 8:01am'. I don't not...

Pulsacoil taking 3 hours to fill a bath.

Thanks, it's jus a normal sized bath. And, I used to have it turned on and run for an hour ever morning then have enough hot water for a shower every day. But as I work from home and live alone I don't take a shower every day and with electricity prices skyrocketing I decided to turn off the...

Pulsacoil taking 3 hours to fill a bath.

Is that a guess based on my description or is there something in the picture which shows it?

Pulsacoil taking 3 hours to fill a bath.

I don't turn on my boiler every day so I guess the water in it gets pretty cold. But when I want to take a shower it I have to run it for one hour. When I want to fill the bathtub I have to run it for a full three hours. Even if if run the boiler for 2.5 hours, the water turns cold before I can...

    Boiler not heating water

So the initial heating is to convert the hot water reservoir into a kind of storage heater type deal, then the water that comes through the tap/shower passes through a coiled tube draws the heat from the reservoir? Why don't they just draw the water directly from the reservoir as it's already hot?

    Boiler not heating water

I did notice that rocker switch was set to off but I don't remember setting it to 'off' myself. I just set the bottom three mains switches to off when I'm not heating water. I just switched the rocker switch to Timed and set the timer again so see if it works. Taking the cover off the boiler...

    Boiler not heating water

I rent an apartment and for the last year the boiler has worked fine. I used to have it set to heat the water every morning for an hour or sometimes 90 mins. As I live alone I only really use hot water for showers. But as electricity prices in the UK have doubled and I don't shower every day...

Can I put a plug on a previously wall connected oil heater?

Apologies for the over sized pictures. I thought the site would scale them down.

Can I put a plug on a previously wall connected oil heater?

I would appreciate any advice on wiring a plug to a heater. I recently moved to a new apartment and removed a storage heater and an oil heater that were wired into the wall rather than plugged in. Both had three wires intersecting with three wires from the wall that I guess were related to the...

How do I un-fudge my storage heater removal attempt? (*solved)

Actually I just had to rewire the wall wires into the faceplate and it must have re-completed the circuit as everything is working fine now.

How do I un-fudge my storage heater removal attempt? (*solved)

I think you are right and I should put this in the electrical section.

How do I un-fudge my storage heater removal attempt? (*solved)

I just messed up and removed a storage heater from my living room wall and also disconnected the wires and only realised it’s more complicated than disconnecting regular wall heaters. So it would be helpful if someone could give some advice of the best way to un-fudge my situation. When I...

Is this Black + Decker drill faulty?

Some months ago I bought a Black + Decker 18 V cordless 2-Gear combi hammer drill from Amazon and some drill bits. At some point I was drilling holes in the wall with a stone drill bit and noticed that it was wobbling and making the holes bigger than the screw plugs even though the the drill...

Horstmann Electronic 7 boiler controller settings

Ah I see I mistook using select to cycle through the timed boost thinking the 'on' and 'off' appearing was turning it on and off but in fact it is telling me what time to set it on and off. So it seems I have no choice but to use the timed boost as there is no just off setting. So I'll turn it...

Horstmann Electronic 7 boiler controller settings

Update: I set the 'Boost program' to 'off' but as soon as I cycle back in the settings it is listed as 'on' again and the heater is still making noise at various times of the day as if it's heating up again.

Horstmann Electronic 7 boiler controller settings

@JohnD. Ah that's an interesting point. So if I set the timer to go on more than once during the day, it won't run for the entire duration the timer is set for but will auto turn off once the temperature has been reached. And the water already being hot from a previous heat up means even if I...

    Polyfilla not drying

Yeah I drilled out the spongey stuff then sanded the crap out of the hole entrances, stuffed the back of the hole with tissue then put proper filla in. It's drying nicely so I'll sand it down and paint over. Also, my £49 Black & Decker has gone a bit wonky so two of the new holes were drilled...

Horstmann Electronic 7 boiler controller settings

@stem wow, I really appreciate the time and effort for your comprehensive input. It helps me to understand a lot thank you. My rate is not a night time economy 7 one. I'm paying about 18p per kwh regardless of time. I recently enquired about a night time one but although the night price would...

    Polyfilla not drying

Ah thanks so much for that. I guess in my inexperience and not knowing there are different types I bought the wrong one. Well, the worst kind of mistakes are the ones you don't know how to remedy, or especially the ones you don't even acknowledge. Knowing what a mistake is and how to remedy...
