uPVC door almost impossible to unlock

Thanks for the suggestions, I managed to sort it! In case anyone comes across this later, once I had taken the metal brackets out of the door and opened up the locking mechanism it was very easy to see the issue: a ball bearing in the locking mechanism had fallen off its holder and was blocking...

uPVC door almost impossible to unlock

My uPVC door has become very hard to unlock. The key rotates fine intially but then feels "blocked" when it gets to the point of actually unlocking. I can still unlock it if I keep on turning, but I have to turn hard enough that I'm worried I will break off the key soon. Locking the door again...

Will give that a try, thanks!

Low water pressure in power shower

I got a new hose and cleaned out the shower head since i moved in, so hopefully that isn’t an issue anymore. An issue inside the case wouldn’t cause this would it? Can I just get something like this to replace the broken part of it? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304353791509

Low water pressure in power shower

It's coming out of a little hole next to the hose at the bottom. I circled it in the photo (which I guess also answers the question of how old the shower is - 3 years). So it looks like the valve blowing is exactly what happened, doesn't it? And having googled around it a bit it sounds like I...

Low water pressure in power shower

I’d guess a couple years at least, it was already there when I moved in. Does that mean it needs descaling/replacing?

Low water pressure in power shower

My electric shower (Triton T80) has pretty bad water pressure, even though the taps in the bathtub have great pressure. Are there any basic things I could try to alleviate that, or at least figure out if the problem is the shower itself or the pipes leading to it? The pressure is low on cold as...

Solar light inside a garden shed

Agreed. I only have them in my kitchen and hallway, so not places where I am going to be sitting down for minutes at a time.

Solar light inside a garden shed

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. The security aspect was really just an afterthought - the main point of the PIR is the convenience. I have been trying to put more and more of my lights on sensors, it's quite satisfying when you walk into a room and the lights just come on!

Solar light inside a garden shed

I have a shed in my garden that I would like to put a sensor light into. Mostly for convenience but security would be a bonus. If I also had a few Watts of USB power there to power a camera that would be great, but not essential. Running proper electrics to it would need a qualified electrician...

    Anchoring shed to paving slabs

That's what I was planning to do as a stopgap! You think it's not worth bothering with the anchors?

    Anchoring shed to paving slabs

I am building a plastic shed on top of concrete council slabs and I need to anchor it to the ground. It has anchor points along the floor where you are supposed to drill. I'm thinking of getting some shield anchors for this job, probably these...

Euro Cylinder Sizing - too long or too short

It's a white uPVC door with handles on both sides. I was hoping to just swap out the cylinder though, not turn this into a larger job. The door is fine as it is, I just want to change the keys.

Euro Cylinder Sizing - too long or too short

I want to replace the euro cylinder on one of my doors. The one currently in there is a 50/50 but the external side is sticking out by about 5mm. So I think what I really need is a 50/45. The internal side (50) will have a thumb turn. Unfortunately the cylinder I was hoping to get is only...

How level is "level" for a shed base?

That's a relief, thank you! Some of the articles I was reading made it sound like anything other than a perfect 0° would be a major issue.

How level is "level" for a shed base?

I have ordered a plastic shed for my garden. The manufacturer makes a big point about how the base for it needs to be level, which of course makes sense. I hired a local handyman to build a base (paving slabs) and told him I needed it to be level, but when he finished he told me he actually...
