    Dismantling a bulb holder

Well thank you guys. I actually feel like a bit of an idiot but it worked. In my defence it did look and feel like it was one piece as tried uncrewing it before and it wouldnt budge. After your advice thought Id give it one last try with a rubber band round it to get some traction and it fell...

    Dismantling a bulb holder

Hi Does anyone know how I get the black plastic bulb holder out of a light without breaking it? It seems alot harder than it ought to be as its loose and doesnt appear to be attached to anything within the casing.

Can you put wood dye into varnish

Thanks opps. It was more the pitfalls of mixing two dyes together that worried me. I realise then pouring that into varnish is just being lazy but thought I'd ask anyways. Will prob just mix the two dyes together then stick a clear varnish on top.

Can you put wood dye into varnish

Hi No sure if this is a good idea to save time but has anybody tried pouring Wood dye into varnish? We are struggling to get the floor colour we want as most turn out to be too yellow or too orange so wondered if anyone has tried mixing 2 wood stains together? Could you then just pour the...

Insulating under floor with spray foam.

Thanks for that advice. I weren't going to take up the existing floor tho or relay a new one on top of the existing floor boards which I'm going to sand and varnish but I get the gist, Don't use spray foam on the underside. Insulating under floor with spray foam.

New ceiling light with existing dimmer

Yeah. It did unfortunately. Guess that's another wiring job that could possibly go wrong. Tho I'll make sure I record what wires go where this time. Mind might possibly be on here again in a few days.

New ceiling light with existing dimmer

Not not touched the actual dimmer switch at. It worked perfectly fine with the old light so assumed it was my faulty wiring. It appears however that it may be the dimmer which may not be LED compatible.

New ceiling light with existing dimmer

Yeah, have done that, albeit by accident and the lights were on permanently so at least I know the power connection is good.

New ceiling light with existing dimmer

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I was just giving as much info as possible re number of wires. It is an older dimmer switch so it could be the dimmer switch. Tho I did get the light to work but they were permanently on so I assumed that bypassed the dimmer altogether. Will try a new dimmer if you...

New ceiling light with existing dimmer

Hi. Not sure if this has been posted before but can't find the answer. I took my old ceiling light down but like an idiot didn't take note of where the wires would fit into the new light. It has a dimmer so there are 2 sets of 3 wires in the hole in the ceiling, red, black and green. No rose...
