Do you mean silicone between the gaps? That's the plan - would you have a recommendation at all with which one to use?

Cigarette smoke smell coming up through floorboards

That's exactly it. Just need to use a caulk or sealant and just seal the gaps in the floorboards but not sure which one to buy! I'm hoping this will fix it

Cigarette smoke smell coming up through floorboards

It's a 1930s house. I think the smoke is coming through the joists through the chimney or something. It's upstairs and I own the house

    Cigarette smoke from next door

Now coming up through floorboards after I sealed where it was originally coming from (between skirting boards and floors by chimney) should I caulk or silicone now to fill gaps between floorboards to stop it travelling underneath the whole room now? (isolated to one bedroom upstairs) no where...

Cigarette smoking coming in from next door neighbour

Thank you, do you mean the gaps between the skirting and floorboards? The gap isn't huge to be honest so I think I will apply caulk all around. I'm pretty sure that's where it's coming from in that area. I'm just a little worried what we'll uncover when we take all of the laminate off. I hope...

Cigarette smoking coming in from next door neighbour

Thanks for the advice everyone so far, really helps. I think he's quite sick too so I don't want to go over and say anything as he's free to smoke in his own house. I'm just a bit worried because we want to start a family soon! So bad that smoke can travel through like that. Especially when you...

Cigarette smoking coming in from next door neighbour

To be honest it did smell of something in there, clearly it was the smoke but I didn't actually realise what "that smell" was fags until we took the beading off! We moved almost a year ago now. We wouldn't even have a clue to take the original floorboards off

Cigarette smoking coming in from next door neighbour

Hello Everyone! Having a bit of a disaster at the moment... we took off the laminate beading in our spare bedroom (upstairs) to paint the walls as eventually we are going to get carpets. Next day and over the last month the smell of cigarettes has been getting worse and worse and the room...

    Damp floorboards when it rains...

Yeah I think maybe it's that piece of wood blocking the airvent that is getting wet and moisture is rising from that because it is literally just in that corner

    Damp floorboards when it rains...

We think water is coming through the airvent somehow but I don't understand how water would travel up into the laminate. It's so weird. We don't know what to do! Would wet joists cause laminate to bubble?? That cable doesn't go outside the cable was actually dry.

    Damp floorboards when it rains...

I think it's an old phone line, our electrics seem to be in the subfloor along with our pipes etc.
