Ideal Isar HE30 Leaking, Diverter Valve Not Closing

Yes, I turned off the boiler, water and gas when the problem started. I had to remove and clean out the water isolating valve first as it was jammed with dirt.

Ideal Isar HE30 Leaking, Diverter Valve Not Closing

That's a good idea. I haven't refitted the heat exchanger yet, I want to get it thoroughly cleaned out and understand exactly what went wrong before reassembly.

Ideal Isar HE30 Leaking, Diverter Valve Not Closing

My Ideal Isar HE30 leaks at the point where the diverter valve connects to the plate heat exchanger. It gives an intermittent intermittent H3 (domestic hot water thermistor fault) error code. The diverter valve is not always operating properly - the radiators start to warm up when the boiler...

PAS24 security Door for Non-Standard Door Aperture

I have a small front porch, which I had double-glazed a couple of years ago. The uPVC "security" door is so flimsy that a good sneeze would take it down. It's pointless replacing this door with something more solid, as the porch frame it attaches to is lightly-constructed wood. There is an...

    Need Help Identifying Plumbing Fitting

This fitting is on one of the pipes connecting to my sitting room radiator. I presume it's a shutoff valve, however if I turn the screw in either direction water spurts out. The other input has a lockshield valve. I want to remove the radiator to decorate. Does this mean I'll have to...

What Type of Roller to Use for Smooth Finish on Plaster?

I've just applied plaster primer to a bare plaster ceiling using a B& Q roller for smooth surfaces. The resulting coverage isn't very even. The B & Q roller is made of sponge, and doesn't look like the best quality. Question is, can I get a smoother finish by using a different/better quality roller?

Ideal Isar HE35 Leaks after PCB Replacement

I'm not necessarily trying to blame him, but when I have to explain to a supposedly expert professional how to fit a part correctly it doesn't do much to build my trust in him. I want to establish whether he is indeed at fault, or whether it's just coincidence. From the answers above, it looks...

Ideal Isar HE35 Leaks after PCB Replacement

Probably because he's half clueless. The PCB came with a leaflet explaining the jumper settings, which he only bothered to read after I told him what the fault code meant.

Ideal Isar HE35 Leaks after PCB Replacement

My Ideal Isar HE35 boiler recently broke down, no lights/display, no noise no response at all when switched on. I called a guy out to fix it, who installed a new PCB. The transformer on the old PCB had burned out. There's no other visible fault on the PCB, or sign of water getting into it. The...

How to Install a Really Secure front Door?

Thanks folks. Haven't replaced the door yet, been busy with other stuff. The SBD site is giving me some good ideas though.

Which Paint Will Stick to Bathtub Sealer?

I'm partway through renovating my bathroom. I had the ceiling replastered, then had the new bathroom and wall panels put in. The joiner who fitted the panels sealed round the top with bath sealer. When painting the ceiling I discovered the paint won't adhere to the sealer, leaving a gap on the...

    Opinions on Shades Bathroom Furniture/Cabinets?

I'm thinking about having Shades Aspen built-in cabinets in my new bathroom. Anyone have any experience with them, or opinions to share?

How to Install Rehau Windows to Meet BS7950?

I had Rehau windows and doors fitted to the front of my house about a year ago. None of the doors/windows have the steel reinforcement fitted. Rehau's website states that their windows meet the BS7950 security standard. What is not clear is whether it's necessary to have the steel...

Removal of White panel under window

There should be beading around the edge of the PVC panel which hold it in place, in the same way that beading holds the glass panes in place. There are ideas here on removing the beading: //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=99554

tool for removing beads on upvc windows

How strong is the beading? The infill panel in my front door is held in with beading. I wonder whether giving the uPVC/polystyrene infill panel a few good kicks would break it?

Adding More Glass to a PVC Door

My outer front door is uPVC, Rehau I believe. Neither the door nor frame have any metal reinforcement. The door, which was sold as being "high security", has an infill panel made from layers of PVC a few mm thick over a central core of expanded polystyrene. The infill panel is held in by snap-in...

How to Install a Really Secure front Door?

I'm planning to replace my inside front door. At the moment it's a lightly-constructed internal door with minimal locks. The surrounding wall is a breeze block cavity wall. As there have been a number of burglaries in my area, I want to have a new door and frame put in that are thoroughly...
