Junction box between fused spur and single electric oven.

Thank you for the reply. Maybe my terminology it wrong. The wires which come down from the 'cooker switch'are about 1 metre and go into a round plastic box inside which there is a 'terminal block'. The flex from the new cooker goes into the other side of this circular plastic box and...

Junction box between fused spur and single electric oven.

I am replacing my old single electric oven with a new one and am connecting the new cable into a circular plastic junction box to the wire which comes from the existing fused spur. However, although the original work was done by a professional company I have to say I am a bit surprised...

    Plastic Ridge System.

I was persuaded to change my traditional ridge tiles for a dry plastic 'rigible' system(whatever that is). One has blown off already after about 7 months and I am a bit scared I have been 'had'. Although the single ridge has blown off and in spite of torrential rain, no water seems to have come...

Heat resistant connector covers inside cooker.

Thanks again for allaying my fears. I will try for the heatshrinking high temp version but will not worry too much if I cannot find it..just do a quick check on that foil. I am amazed that 8 years is old ...but I suppose that fashions change and technology moves on....best regards from Stokey.

Heat resistant connector covers inside cooker.

Hi again...this job is driving me batty. I am replacing the element (grill/upper oven) to my Baumatic BT built-in oven which is all of 8 years old!!! There are five spade connectors and I have fed the wires inside the cooker to these. However the original heat-resistant plastic shrouds have...

    heat resistant connector covers..resin nowadays???

I have decided against using the crimping connectors as I do not have confidence in the heat resistance of the insulating material. According to the manufacturers, they now use a 'resin' which they put over the joint and this forms the heat resistant insulation. They do not stock the resin. But...

    heat resistant connector covers..resin nowadays???

This is an extension of my problem with my built-in oven and replacing the grill/upper element. The job has gone well but on removing the 5 connectors to the knackered element the little plastic heat resistant covers had become brittle and they broke off. I have done a very temporary job with...

Condensation inside 'sealed' double glazed unit.

I have a small double-glazed opening horizontal vent (about 1.2metre by 20cms) which appears to have condensation in the sealed unit. Not a lot. Is there any way of getting at it or resealing or must I get a new piece made? Any ideas appreciated as always.

    My gas fire goes 'put-put-put'

Well, thanks for all the suggestions. None of you kind folks has intimated that there is a great risk, although the thought of any 'leak' brings shivers down my spine. I may just give bg a ring. My CH is under 3-star Homecare, but they only service the lounge fire as an extra. Was WHITNEY...

    My gas fire goes 'put-put-put'

Ok folks...now you've stopped laughing at my title for this post..and no jokes about little scooters or mopeds being stuck up my chimney please. Joking aside, I had my Valour living room fire serviced by British Gas and I feel they did a reasonable job about 12 weeks ago. However, when I am...

Undoing glued seals/joints in soil pipe.

The job is nearly done...just got to undo it all as one of the screws to the bottom of the pan seems to have lost the plastic plug...that should be no problem. However, 'To lube or not to lube, that is the question'....as Hamlet said. It was a bit of a job to get the first joint over the...

Undoing glued seals/joints in soil pipe.

As today is the first chance I have had of shutting the wc and water off, the job has now started. I have sawn the soil pipe as near to the joint as possible, slid the spigot connector off and then undone the pan at the base. I have connected the 2 new pieces back...small extension directly...

Undoing glued seals/joints in soil pipe.

I will trust to my sheer power and dexterity to pull/push the thing on its own without lube....after all, if it is likely to leak, then this is where we came in..a bit like the old song 'There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza....' 'There's a leak in the bog pan, dear Stokey dear...

Undoing glued seals/joints in soil pipe.

I think the song is from 'Oliver'..Fagin sings "I'm reviewing, the situation..." So, I'm reviewing, the lubrication... I don't need it Coz it goes in on its own...' I am pretty certain that the most I shall need is a bit of water on the male parts...spigot, and maybe the first of the...
