It's pay day. So i have confirmed that the current version of Hive is wireless (thermostat to receiver) so i don't need a socket next to boiler, so I have ordered Hive. Will post back with the results/experience at some point in the future.

I don't think you understand how Hive works.... You are definitely wrong about getting binned when the novelty wears off - You obviously think that Google would pay $2 BILLION for a company that make a very similar device to Hive, and will just bin it off soon. How soon you think...
