Hello, newbie here. Just bought my first house WOOHOO!, 3 story, 3 bed, garden, garage, two well chuffed owners, but CH is not working at all...

I have a Worcester Greenstar condensing combi-boiler, its either 24i/28i junior (is this any good?).

After switching on gas, the boiler straight away produced hot water.

The problem is that despite cranking the thermostat up to max and setting the override so that it is constant, the boiler doesn't even fire, it simply isn't interested!

All rads have TRVs (i think), there were all switched off but I have turned them all to full while trying to sort this.

Can anyone give me a clue as to what might be the fault?! - i am assuming the thermostat is not talking to the boiler, but i have looked and have absolutely no idea where any wiring might go so any diagnosis there could be a nightmare [Can you get wireless thermostats?]

Any advise greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mike.

PS Thermostat is Worcester too so i assume no compatibility issues. Clock keeps the correct time - are they mains or battery powered?

Is there any model number on the thermostat or could you post a picture?

I'm wondering if it's a timer/programmer as well as room thermostat.

I'm assuming it isn't a battery operated wireless unit.

If you're OK with measuring mains voltages you could unscrew the thermostat from the wall and check that it is actually switching 240V back to the boiler to demand CH.

There are probably three wires (plus an Earth),

Neutral, Permanent LIVE and Switched LIVE.

So was I - I was wrong

Replaced the batteries and it now works fine - I had no idea that it was likely to be wireless - how times have changed!!
