    Ok so i'm going to take up the slabs and then hardcore and concrete. People have mentioned that i could just screed onto the hardcore and DPC. Would this work? Or would it be too weak and possibly crack at a later date? Olly

    Yes 15mm of screed all over would work. I'm thinking about removing the Slabs though now as I believe they are worth rather a lot on money.

    Turns out that you need to make sure the random stop cock behind the dishwaher and under the floor (i now know this is the Central Heating drain...) is fully turned off. British Gas lady came over, fitted a new PRV yesterday and a man closed the tap today. Result. Thanks for everyones...
