Vokera Compact 24 finally replacing it with an Alpha CD28C

Alternate engineer says living where we are (Very soft water, not hard area) no need to powerflush either, but always does give it a system flush, just not power. Also adds an inhibitor to the water. Does this sound like correct procedure (System flush as opposed to power) Think I am changing...

Vokera Compact 24 finally replacing it with an Alpha CD28C

:?: Got the thoughts of a Heating Engineer who recomends Ravenheat CSI 120 or a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 28i junior :? This is such a minefield  He also said Alpha's aren't that good, but who knows the best and the worst? Problem with these and others are they have been bought...

Vokera Compact 24 finally replacing it with an Alpha CD28C

 Don't get me wrong - the water in the system looks totally clean when I bleed rads, but I am no expert. System has been drained about 3 times in last 4 years due to new rads fitted and boiler relocated to loft etc, so can there really be that much cr4p left in it? I'll ask the...

Vokera Compact 24 finally replacing it with an Alpha CD28C

 OK Now I have had doubt placed in my mind! Reasons for Alpha - My Gas Engineer / Installer / Service man knows them inside out. 5 Year g/t with Premier Jig (Built in filters so no need to powerflush as system totally drained pre-install anyway), will be serviced as per manufacturer...

Vokera Compact 24 finally replacing it with an Alpha CD28C

Hi A few of you will have replied to my cries for help in the past. Before I make a mistake again, is the boiler recommended by my installer - an Alpha CD28C a good option for me? My vokera was nothing but trouble, and I hear Potterton are not much better. Loads of people have told me to...

Vokera Compact 24 at it again

OK - Spoken to an area manager from Vokera. A flashing red light indicates a system fault. He states a constant red light indicats a lock out due to the gas supply. Either the gas valve sticking, the regulator on the meter, or demand. He suggests that due to the adverse temperatures we had...

Vokera Compact 24 at it again

Gasman coming tomorrow night. Last night it cut out (Red Light) with just the heating on (didn't draw hot water) Is it still the domestic thermister? Wish I had £1500 to buy a new boiler!! Is ALPHA a good recommendation if we do go down that road?

Vokera Compact 24 at it again

So we are now past the cold snap (did we ever have one?) and our boiler has started cutting out again. Red light after red light. If we have the heating on, and draw hot water, it sometimes cuts out and gives a red light. Other times it gets scalding hot, then goes cold as you'd expect, then...

    Vokera Compact 24

:x The Fan was broken  (Still working but not effectively - all sorts of bits hanging off it) :? Thermostat replaced as a precaution. Hot water does come through a lot quicker now  . Is this a common problem on Vokera Compacts, 3 years old. Should I send the broken fan...

    Vokera Compact 24

Thanks for the tip. Installer changing Tuesday eve. I'll let you know! The heating kicked in this morning, and I got hot water but it still goes cold, and the radiators don't get scorching hot like normal, so my guess was a thermostat, but not being a gas techie it was a true guess!! Why do...

    Vokera Compact 24

We have had a number of problems with our 3 year old vokera. Main Circuit Boar, Air Pressure Switch, Some other valve to do with the hot water part. All in three years. Now we get hot water for 1m 40s, then freezing cold water for 2 mins, then hot again, then freezing. Looks like the...

Vokera Compact 24 No Hot Water or Heating AGAIN

After my posts last week I thought we were back up and running. However, now there is no hot water or heating - green light is flashing, it just won't fire up. Pump starts, fan appears to start, you here a switch noise, but nothing! Any ideas? It's only 3 years old!!!

    Vokera Compact 24 - Problems

Thanks for the tips - The plumber returned today (yes he's an installer not just a repairer! When he'd shut the system up a wire had caught between two contacts, so it wouldn't fire up. He didn't charge me for this visit. Circuit board still working touch wood.

    Vokera Compact 24 - Problems

Hi I had a vokera Compact 24 installed in June 2003 and within the first year I had a Main Circuit Board replaced and some sort of valve replaced that was leaking. All covered under Vokera's 1 year warranty, but in fairness you shouldn't expect many problems within the first five years...
