    Broken UPVC Cladding

Yeah that's what I thought. Called up a local cladding firm to get their quote. They reckon they may be able to do something without taking it all the stuff above it down, but wanted £250. Maybe a fair price but I can do with that expense at the moment. So opted for my plan B. Sealed it...

    Broken UPVC Cladding

I have textured UPVC cladding on the outside of my house (horizontal lengths, nailed to vertical battens). Unfortunately one of the kids kicked a football too hard and it has made a whole in the plastic, right in the middle. Does anyone know if its possible, and how I could, replace the...

Do they work with push button flush? A quick google showed me all with chains/handle flush. Any idea where I could get one please?

    Toilet Cistern Dribbles

Hi Bosswhite No its definitely not overflowing. I have over filled it, just before overflow, to see if the increased pressure would shut it off fully, but it still dribbles. I'm convinced its a faulty or minutely blocked flush/valve . Just don't know how to prove it or repair easily.

    Toilet Cistern Dribbles

Hi all, I have a problem with my toilet cistern. It doesn’t seem to shut off properly in that after the inlet appears to have stopped, but there is a small dribble running down the rear of the pan. I’m assuming the flush/outlet valve is sticking, not closing properly, or has bit of debris...

    Power Shower Filters

Thanks for the reply m1key00. The first time it happened (last year) I thought it might be the storage tank as it was replaced at the same time the pipework was put in for the power shower. So, I drained it down and had a good look inside but it seemed spotless. I would have thought that...

    Power Shower Filters

Hi all. A keep getting a problem with my power shower. Every so often it loses all pressure although the pump is still going. When I remove the shower I find that the filter washers are blocked up with some sort of fibres (like cotton wall). My pump is in my loft, so I wonder if...

Shower Pump starting on its own

I'm not sure. The pump is on the floor, at the same level as the base of the hot water cylinder. The cold storage tank is in the loft above. So I'm not sure whether that makes it positive or negative?

Shower Pump starting on its own

So would that mean a new pump? Or could I reduce the flow slightly to the other hot taps?

Shower Pump starting on its own

No, not done anything with the plumbing at all.

Shower Pump starting on its own

Well not exactly on its own....Sometimes if you turn the hot water tap on/off in the kitchen or bathroom, there will be a short (0.5 sec) burst of the shower pump coming into life. No water is expelled from the shower but the pump makes a noise as if the shower has been turned on momentarily...

    Bright idea for Loft Floor

My loft is currently insulated in with the standard cross-laid mineral wool. However, I would like to use it for light storage. I looked into raising the floor joists and putting down chipboard flooring but I’m concerned that this may be too heavy as it is a dormer bungalow and therefore the...

    Brambles

A had a massive bramble problem when I moved into a house with a garden that had grown wild for years. Tried constant cutting an many sprays with roundup. As soon as I thought the problem was solved more popped up. In the end I found something that works, SBK Brushwood. Follow...

    Cistern making clunking noise

Give it a try and find out. The worst that can happen is that your cistern is a bit slower to fill up.

What's happened to my toilet fill valves???

Thanks for the reply Burnerman. I thought I should check back in the tank, but having solved the problem I needed to get on with other things. Will have a look over the next couple of days.

What's happened to my toilet fill valves???

Well I checked the tank and it was nice and clean inside, no visible blockage at all. Tested, the pressure coming into cistern and it was very low. Also noticed what looked like small pieces of limescale in the bucket used for collecting the water. So, thinking there might be some sort of...

What's happened to my toilet fill valves???

Hi Burnerman Yes header tank is completely full. The bath/shower takes a feed from the tank and although it goes via a pump it works fine. I've also switched off the pump and the water still comes through fine, but as mentioned that is on a separate feed from the tank. Could it be due to...

What's happened to my toilet fill valves???

I'm stumped on this one... About 1 year ago I installed two new toilets. (Different makes and models). Yesterday evening, both would not fill after a flush. I have... 1. Checked the fill valve and theres just a very slow drip. 2. Checked the inlet pipe (after the isolator valve)...

    Acceptable additional socket configuration

rebuke They will be in the loft space, which isnt boarded out, so will be connected to a joist up there. (And like the cables, above the insulation!) Thanks all. Feel a lot happier about doing this now. Cheers.
