    mystery shock

Thanks for thinking about this one so far. Update to info given; 1 The Honeywell Motorised Valves are working in line with the thermostats, but not switching on the pump. 2 I say pump singular, because the pump working the hot water for the hot water cylinder has come to life on it's own? 3...

    mystery shock

Thanks for the quick reply. 1. There are no fuses in the plugs (they are the old round pin type), there is a secondary junction box with a range of the large trip switch type fuses supplying everything in the boiler room, which werent tripped, I don't know if they blow without tripping? The...

surface mounted metal socket box in cupboard

Hi guys, I didn't realise the plug and then cable led to an adaptor before going to the pump. I don't know what bearing that had on the plug specs, but it was definitely a completely solid moulded type plug no access to fuses or anything. I cut it off as advised and wired staright into the fcu...

surface mounted metal socket box in cupboard

good advice, thanks. You're right there is a stamp in the plastic moulded plug 240v 13amp. There must be one in there just no access/flap etc to replace if blown! Wonder how many people have bought a replacement pump with a blown fuse! Cheers, i'm gonna do what you said cut the plug off and wire...

surface mounted metal socket box in cupboard

thanks for the reply. I thought of doing that, but I may need to move the pump at some stage to change water filters, so I thought the easy option would be to retain the plug in plug out thing. The fcu already has a fuse, but odly (i thought) the moulded plug doesn't. What do you think?

Thank you Sparkwright. Off the same socket, a previous owner has run an FCU after the socket then to an alarm system , which I want to remove. Did that person wire it incorrectly?

Hello, I'm moving a radiator approx. 2 ft from it's original position. I'm planning on extending the pipework and using push fit connectors. Any reason I should use plastic pipe over copper or vice versa? Thanks.

    Connecting to soil

Thanks for your advice. At this point my questions are really to understand the process and keep the costs down by using my labour to dig the trench. I've employed a drainage company and left the tech. bit with them. Cheers.
