Hi, yes we have got a dimmer switch on the light, it's worked fine for ages. You've got we wondering now whether it should have that or not. Re: anything done recently, no nothing at all, just switched on and off as required.

I've just had another look at this and it appears that the metal backplate is not earthed as the green / yellow cables that come out of the thick cooker supply cable are only attached to the fascia, and not to the backplate. There is a terminal on the backplate for an earth, but it is not...

I found out this was the problem after fitting the new socket fascia and refitting it all with the power off at the fuse box, but as soon as I switched on the main breaker it would trip out. I gradually worked my way around the sockets I had changed until I found that the trip would not go off...

Update - I now have the diaphragm service kit in my possession, is it just a case of changing the brass nut thing in the middle or do I need to change the diaphragm too. Thanks for any help

When the guy fitted the central heating, he put an inhibitor in the system. Two days later it sprung a leak and after he'd re-soldered the joint he just filled it with normal water. Since then, the heat exchanger matrix (?) has corroded through and now this. Wouldn't use them again. Thanks...

Hi, update on this problem. I think this leak is on the hot water side of the boiler as the water leaking out is totally clear rather than the murky stuff that comes out when I drain the radiators down and the radiators are not losing pressure. Is the flow switch gland nut a DIY job or would I...
