IKEA / whirlpool DWF417 dishwasher stopping

Hi everyone, our DWF417 IKEA / whirlpool (made my Bosch I think) dishwasher randomly stops around 2/3 of the way through any of the cycles. It bleeps twice in succession, then one single bleep, and there's a clunk from the lower half. Sometimes if you switch it off and back on, it'll sort...

Ikea kitchen light transformer overheated - any ideas

Hi, yes we have got a dimmer switch on the light, it's worked fine for ages. You've got we wondering now whether it should have that or not. Re: anything done recently, no nothing at all, just switched on and off as required.

Ikea kitchen light transformer overheated - any ideas

Hi, we have a set of Ikea halogen lights in our kitchen - the type that has two wires stretched between the two walls, and the bulbs bridge the two wires. There is a large chrome transformer that is wired to the lighting circuit. I switched it on this afternoon and after about ten minutes, it...

Cooker socket causes main RCD to trip

I've just had another look at this and it appears that the metal backplate is not earthed as the green / yellow cables that come out of the thick cooker supply cable are only attached to the fascia, and not to the backplate. There is a terminal on the backplate for an earth, but it is not...

Cooker socket causes main RCD to trip

I found out this was the problem after fitting the new socket fascia and refitting it all with the power off at the fuse box, but as soon as I switched on the main breaker it would trip out. I gradually worked my way around the sockets I had changed until I found that the trip would not go off...

Cooker socket causes main RCD to trip

I have changed my cooker socket twice in the last two years, as the first 2 were dodgy from Wickes, and overheated ! I have a plain white one on there at the moment and it is wired up and working fine, but when I put the screws in to hold it to the metal backplate, as soon as the screw makes...

    Hello, Baxi 105E dripping water

    Hello, Baxi 105E dripping water

When the guy fitted the central heating, he put an inhibitor in the system. Two days later it sprung a leak and after he'd re-soldered the joint he just filled it with normal water. Since then, the heat exchanger matrix (?) has corroded through and now this. Wouldn't use them again. Thanks...

    Hello, Baxi 105E dripping water

No worries, what colour should I paint the water ? Is the repair item something I could buy at my local Plumb Centre or Screwfix ? Here's picture I just took. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/deutscheparts/Boiler/DSCF0004.jpg Cheers

    Hello, Baxi 105E dripping water

It's definately coming out of the red thing in the middle of that diagram. A plumber came round 3 weeks ago, said he'd be back in two days and now isn't answering his phone. I was wondering if it's the kind of thing I could do without too much bother, I've fitted radiators etc in the...

    Hello, Baxi 105E dripping water

Hi, update on this problem. I think this leak is on the hot water side of the boiler as the water leaking out is totally clear rather than the murky stuff that comes out when I drain the radiators down and the radiators are not losing pressure. Is the flow switch gland nut a DIY job or would I...

    Hello, Baxi 105E dripping water

Thanks for the quick reply, is there a way I can check or identify this? I could take a photo and add it here if that would help Thanks

    Hello, Baxi 105E dripping water

Hi, I have a 4 year old Baxi 105E. I went to tidy up the cupboard it's located in and was met by the smell & sight of mould on the floor. I traced the water to a small leak coming from the left front corner of the Baxi, from around the area where the diagnostic / temperature LEDs are located...
