    Flaking gable end wall

Hi Bosswhite and Ken Thanks for your suggestions, fellas. I had not heard of soda blasting so I'll do a bit of research on that before deciding which way to go. Bob

    Flaking gable end wall

Hi Bosswhite Do you just take it on trust that the old paint (which hasn't yet flaked) will stay put under the new paint?

    Flaking gable end wall

Hi Guys, Since we moved in about 4 years ago, the masonry paint on the gable end has been steadily flaking off. I suspect the previous owner, who rendered the wall about two years earlier had failed to primer the wall before painting it with what looks like a cheapish masonry paint. The wall...

    DeWalt bevel problem

Hi Guys, and thanks for your replies. I am now more or less convinced the problem is with the sideplay on the traverse bars particularly when the saw is pulled right back. I've looked at the little wheel on the guard but I don't think it's interfering, because the worst inaccuracy is at the...

    DeWalt bevel problem

Thanks for explaining the kerf. But I don't think its part of the problem. My cut itself is clean and correctly bevelled at 45degrees but is not perpendicular to the fence, whereas the unbevelled cut is. But now I've looked again, there is a tiny bit of play between the motor/blade/handle...

    DeWalt bevel problem

Now I'm not following you! Sorry for my ignorance but just what is a kerf?

    DeWalt bevel problem

Yes, the board is completely flat and clamped to the bed.

    DeWalt bevel problem

I've been using a DeWalt DWS778 Compact Sliding Mitre Saw for the past 6 months and been very pleased with it. It is obviously well put together and suffers none of the sloppiness of the more DIY brands. However, recently I have noticed the bevel cut is not being made accurately. Typically...

    immersion heater control

Roo, It's a possibility they were removed, but the ordinary dimplex heaters which are there now look like they've always been there. Anyway folks, can anyone tell me how to check out the Newlec 7 immersion controller, please? Bob

    immersion heater control

Yes it does seem silly, but no storage heaters. Just an immersion which doesn't work properly.

    immersion heater control

Steve, Its only the water heater on the off peak, and I've checked with the supplier that the off peak is available between 23.30 and 06.30. So, in theory it should work. How can I tell if it is the controller at fault? Bob

    immersion heater control

I've now had a chance to check out the settings on the control but still have no hot water on the off peak period. I have reset the off peak times to 01.00 - 05.00 (previously it was set at 05.00 - 11.00 so would have missed off peak availability) I have set the boost timer with no on periods...

    immersion heater control

Thanks, Gaz. I won't be able to try out your hints until the weekend when I next visit, but as the main problem seems to be no heating happening during the off peak period, is there any way I can check the times the off peak should work? Bob.

    immersion heater control

I have just taken on a flat which has two meters, one for off peak supply. (This is a new concept for me!). The hot tank is controlled through a Newlec Electronic 7 control which lights up to show off peak but does not heat the water. If I press the boost button nothing happens all the while...

    Baxi Solo 2 60PF

Thanks for your help everyone. Boiler is up and running now. It was the PCB.

    Baxi Solo 2 60PF

Baxpoti and HarrogateGas, Thanks for your replies which hopefully save me wasting my money on either the fan if it is the PCB or vice versa.

    Baxi Solo 2 60PF

I'll check out the fan voltage tonight when I get home, but you don't think the pilot solenoid could be it?

    Baxi Solo 2 60PF

Thanks for these suggestions. I'm clear about the fan terminals but where are the pilot teminals? Are they the two leads running to the left end of the control valve? The sparking does not seem to start i.e. the Pilot On does not have a chance to come on as the fan cuts out almost...

    Baxi Solo 2 60PF

It's been a chilly Christmas without any CH. Problem was initially intermittant but seems continuous now. Boiler On - light on Fan On - light on for half a second, fan starts to run but light and fan click out preventing the Pilot On lighting up. Had been able to restart after a couple of...
