Replacing thermostat for Glo Worm 30CXi boiler

Hi, I have bought a Meross thermostat to replace an old thermostat and wondering how best to wire it in. The existing cable from the bolier is 3 core and earth so ideally I would like to just use that. Can anyone tell me which wires go where please. I have attached the page from the...

    Mira Select Removal

Hi, I have a Mira Select shower mixer that I am trying to remove without causing any damage. The mixer itself is ok, but the plastic cover on the RAC looks like it is clipped on and unlikely to come off in one piece. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to unclip the cover. Thanks

    Concrete Lintels

I didn't make it clear in my post that the office is a log cabin style. I was trying to keep the total height low, but I think throwing out the bearers that come with the cabin and buying new 4" joists with 1 wall across the middle would work

    Concrete Lintels

Thanks Notch 7. The floor joists are only 2" by 2" timber to lift the building clear of the floor, hence the need to support them regularly. My thinking was that rather than build 7 walls I could use the lintels supported at either end.

    Concrete Lintels

Hi, I am building the foundations for a garden office of 3.8m by 3.9m footprint Access to the site is not great (approx 70m walk with wheelbarrow and rising about 5m) so I want to use materials that I can carry up a little each evening. This rules out a concrete raft so I am considering...

    Leaky Radiator

Hi, I have a radiator which is about 3 years old and recently started leaking from where the valve taper thread screws in. I removed the valve wrapped plenty of PTFE tape around it and screwed it back in, but after a week or so it started leaking again. To be honest, I think the thread is...

    Solid Floor Construction

Thanks endecotp. Given that I only have 2 inches (insert your own joke) the better insulation and joists would be a better idea. Do I need to leave any air gap under the insulation to allow air to flow and install air bricks?

    Screeding/dpm

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the natural damp coming through an old floor. The solution that Doggit suggests worked for me (ie Damp proof membrane with a laminate floor on top)

    Solid Floor Construction

Hi, I am renovating my downstairs bathroom which includes correcting the original concrete floor. The room has always been cold with very cold floor tiles and I suspected the concrete floor was damp. It appears that the floor structure is a concrete slab with what looks like roof tiles on top...

    240v from Sink

Just to let you know that the sparky found a damaged cable where when testing one end, the neutral and earth where connected and the other end of the cable was dead. He is also going to come back and "improve" the earthing. Thanks to everyone and in particular for suggesting I disconnect the...

    240v from Sink

Thanks for all of the comments. As much as I like to do things myself I cannot ignore the advice. The circuit is switched off and disconnected inside the consumer unit. I shall get an electrician in. Thanks again.
