Hi,

I have a radiator which is about 3 years old and recently started leaking from where the valve taper thread screws in.

I removed the valve wrapped plenty of PTFE tape around it and screwed it back in, but after a week or so it started leaking again. To be honest, I think the thread is quite sloppy and would have thought the taper would bind on the threads rather than screw all of the way in as it does.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this.

Thanks
Adrian

Re remove tail you need around a dozen wraps of ptfe going clockwise. A smear of plumbers mate wont to it any harm also check the leak isnt from the valve face as they have a habit of tricking you into where you think the leak is

As above, I like to use gas tape as it's thicker and find it easier to get a good seal.
