    Replacing an old ESPAG

I hadn't considered that, thanks. Only problem is I want to apply for insurance and they might not accept locking a window permanently but in a non standard way. I guess I could ask though.

    Replacing an old ESPAG

I'm searching in google for an espag but I can't seem to find one that meets the following criteria - Inline - Backset is 20mm - Plate is flat with two non moving mushrooms (plate moves) - Plate width is 13mm - Plate length is 600mm - Plate thickness is 3mm -...

Tanking basement wall with electric meter

sxturbo, unfortunately the ceiling is already as low as it can get. Raising the floor isn't an option unless the dpm, insulation and screed combined were less than 2cm. JohnD, it's a rental property, I'm just trying to get the humidity down for storage. There's also a workbench with brick legs...

Tanking basement wall with electric meter

I learned there's no need to tank the basement since the underlying walls are quite dry. It just needs an air exchanger. The floor is made of old stone slabs though and they've shifted so there's some largish gaps and cracks between some of them. It seems moisture rises from the earth below...

Anything cheaper or better than Watertite?

    Okay thanks for clarifying.

Tanking basement wall with electric meter

I'm planning on applying tanking slurry to this wall. Do I have to figure out a way to apply the slurry behind the electric meter and fusebox? I'm hoping there's an alternative like something I can inject behind the chipboard they're attached to. The chipboard is attached to some wood batons...

Anything cheaper or better than Watertite?

I know that's what I'm supposed to use for the join to the floor but I was told I can't use tanking slurry over the stone slabs because they'll just crumble. Will the fillet seal crumble if it's next to the slabs and epoxy?

Anything cheaper or better than Watertite?

Thanks. I'd ruled out tanking because I thought a fillet seal isn't possible with a stone floor. I was just going to use Watertite sealant where the wall meets the floor. What would happen if I did this? Will the fillet seal resist crumbling due to water under the slabs?

Anything cheaper or better than Watertite?

I plan on using Watertite on the walls of a moldy basement but it costs £65 / 5kg. I can see a few alternatives like Technoseal but they don't advertise as anti-mold. I also found a few negative reviews of Watertite. The floor is made of stone slabs that are always damp. Replacing the it isn't...

Washing machine hose stuck on P-trap

Sorry I forgot to say I've already loosened the clip. No amount of pulling and screwing is budging it.

Washing machine hose stuck on P-trap

Hi, Picture attached. Is there any trick to removing the hose from the old P-trap connection? My triceps don't seem to be strong enough. I had another thread about a reversed P-trap and washing machine. I bought a new P-trap and connected it to the drain. I had to do this because the old...

    Dodgy under sink pipework

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was a trap or just a t-junction. Now I know what it is I can go ahead and try to reverse it. Optical illusion, sorry - they're the same pipe, so the drain pipe is connected to the machine inlet which is reverse as Andy has confirmed. Thanks all for the replies.

    Dodgy under sink pipework

Hi, After having a new washing machine installed, I noticed that the under sink pipework looks as if it's connected incorrectly. I've run a test cycle and the machine seemed to drain without a problem but I wouldn't know how to discern if the drainage pump was being taxed. Previously I used...

Area of concrete? plaster crumbled in bathroom, want to DIM

Thanks, Thistle Dri Coat is the cement based one I can buy, there's also Thistle Browning and Thistle Bonding Coat. The Dri Coat is the one is it? I already have some SupaMix One Coat. Ok to use this instead of the Thistle Multi Finish? Some waterproof paint will cover it..

Area of concrete? plaster crumbled in bathroom, want to DIM

I've chipped off a 1 1/2 by 5 foot area of loose plaster in my bathroom. Looks like a rip from ceiling to 1/4 from the floor. Plaster is probably around 100 years old, is sand coloured and has some black specks, wall is old red bricks. Hopefully it was steam from the shower which got in...

Wall mounted support for a beam?

Ok you've convinced me to get it checked out thanks :D I'm still thinking along these lines for another room - is it possible to wall mount a bed with gallows brackets? How many and what size wood?

Wall mounted support for a beam?

    - Yeah I remembered it from changing rooms - Handy Andy did an indoor swing with steel wire :) - Room has nothing like big-all said, plain 2 level extension.. By support did big-all mean a "foot" underneath the leg? I didn't want that, but it would be easier...

Wall mounted support for a beam?

Masona: It's a flat roof I'm afraid, isn't doable :) How easy is it to craft a solid gallows from scratch? Do I have to use mortise joints? Big-All: The trouble is still the floor, which sinks as deep as 1 or 2 inches along the line 3 feet from the wall. The area of sunken chipboard is too...
