    secondary garage roof insulation

Sorry if this post is in the wrong place or seems a daft question... Our garage is integral to the house and above it is our youngest bedroom. As this was built in the 70's there is no insulation between the garage roof and the bedroom floor. Being north facing it can get rather cold at...

    sealing treated timber

Well seeing as every web site i see mentions about sealing freshly cut end grains, thats what im going to do. Id rather spend an extra £10 and the structure last that much longer, rather than lose out becuase the wood has taken on extra water and started to break down.

    sealing treated timber

    sealing treated timber

I bellive preasure treated dosnt go right through only on the surface. You can see this when you cut through, the treatment only goes a few mm into the wood. So i need to seal the fresh saw ends

    sealing treated timber

Really quick question. I’m laying a new garden deck in my garden. I know I need to treat the cut timbers to seal. Everywhere I Google suggests Hickson Ensele. Is this the best to use? I’m having great trouble getting it local and it seems my only option is from the internet and pay the high...

I was wondering about to buy some deck boards, i have decided to stay away from my local B&Q etc as they all seem to be full of knots etc. Would any one recommend or tell me is there much difference between Q-Deck & Arbordeck as a brand of boards? My 2 local building merchants stock them both at...

    sleepers or brick

Hi. Sorry if this has been asked before. Im going to be laying some new decking in the garden and have a small retaining wall, not sure if it actually holds anything back. At the moment this wall is 500mm high and 6M long, split in the middle for steps up to lawn. It is made from old used...

    baxi solo2 wont fire

Hi all, Hopefully I can explain my problem. We have a Baxi solo2 RS boiler. This morning it hadn’t fired up(has happened before). A while ago it wouldn’t fire up and kept tripping out. When it attempted to fire up, there was a lot of clicking noises coming from the boiler sometimes firing...

sorry when i said patchy i meant patches/areas that are quite flaky and come of easy. The other areas will scrap off with a bit of persuasion. Just want to make this process easier

    removing emulsion

Sorry if this is silly question. I need to remove the old paint from my bathroom walls, before i tile it completely. What is the best way of removing it. Do i just need to stand there and scrap it all off with my paint scrapper? It is all I have been doing but seems to take an age. Is there a...
