Power USB device (Tablet) from light switch

Thanks for the replies. I can look at my phone or the tv, but there is a convenience of being near the door for me, I can pick up an umbrella or use a bike if the Tube is delayed. Or can I take my phone out and check. Which would be good as I would remember to take my phone before leaving...

Power USB device (Tablet) from light switch

I want to be able to quickly glance at a "noticeboard" and see the latest weather and travel, before I go out the door. I've seen cheap tablets for £50 so I was thinking permanently fixing it to the wall near the light switch. I could spur off the light switch with a USB (5V 5A) wall...

    cable confusion

I doubt the DVI on the telly will be DVI-I ... If it isn't you will need to convert the analogue VGA single to Digital... http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/vga-to-dvi-d-converter.html You can see it needs power for this, another power socket taken up. Maybe time to upgrade...

    Bosch PSR18VLI drill masonry/concrete upto 10mm?

Most likely I'd need to do 8mm holes in masonry/concrete... The smaller the drill bit the easier to drill inside? I've got a corded SDS, goes through stuff like butter, but it's bulky and heavy. Thanks!

Actually I think I can get the electrician to do FCUs for the oven and hood and then I can wire into them.

Installing kitchen, when to call gas man and electrician?

I'm going to gut the old kitchen and call the electrician to update the sockets and put in a new CU. Also get the gas man out to do the pipe work to the new hob. At this point can I get them to install "easy" plugin points for electric oven, cooker hood and the gas hob that I can connect...

Electric shower units, are they waterproof?

Sorry, it's a silly question (I've used electric showers before, but never looked at one closely... ) I've bought a Mira electric shower and it doesn't seem very "water tight" to me. There's a very small gap at the top (between the front and back panels) and also the unit seems to have some...

Where does bathroom tap water come from in tower block

Hello there, I was wondering where the bathroom water comes from in a tower block? Thames Water turned off the drinking water once, but the cold water in the bathroom taps was still on. Is there a tank in the roof? The building is 10 floors. Where does the water in the tank come from...

    Conflicting advice from corgi installers

Thank you for your replies! Pressure vs Flowrate? I assumed that flow rate per shower would be 15 ltr/min divided by 2, is that correct? And both showers would get 3bars (mains pressure)? Or have I got it the wrong way round?

    Conflicting advice from corgi installers

I want to replace our ~20 year old boiler with a condensing combi. I'd like to install one that allows for 1 bathroom (with shower) and a shower room, so basically be able to handle 2 people having a shower and someone washing up in the kitchen simultaneously. Property is 3 bed flat with...

IKEA kitchen units and cutting them down to size

Hello I'm fairly new to the forum and have been reading about Ikea units. Does anyone know how high they stand off the floor/height of the plastic legs? And is it easy to reduce their depth so that you can have service pipes running at the back (instead of on the floor)? With Ikea I...
