Hi, Looking at using Brazilian black slate floor tiles laid over paving stones to make a hearth for the fireplace, but the edges have saw marks. Can the edges of slate tiles be filed or polished to remove the saw marks? Cheers Liam

Thanks everyone. I suspect it is a rewire with DIY "enhancements" - like the 6mm T&E nailed to the fence going to the garage and "protected" with plastic cover that you use under plaster!
