    Sharp 32" TV problem.

I've a Sharp 32" LCD TV. (LC-32SD1E). When i first turn it on in the mornings it will come on for about 2 seconds and the picture is lost. The sound stays on though. If I leave it on for 10 mins then turn it off then on it will normally work ok. The picture has been known to switch off when it's...

    Filling a duel fuel radiator.

I'm going to fill it up and turn it on few a few mins with the bleed valve open and when all is expanded close the bleed valve. It's not for me. It's for a client. She has already bought it and had it delivered. I did originally think she'd ordered an oiled filled one. It came with just...

    Filling a duel fuel radiator.

Hi. I've just been asked to install a Duel fuel towel radiator in a bathroom. I'm only going to fit the heating element and not connect it to the central heating system. Can anyone tell me what is the best fluid to fill it with please? If it's just water, is there any additives that should be...

    Double switch

Hear hear. Johnmelad502 There are too many people on this forum that don't like to help electricians/DIYers "less" than themselves. There are other forums that can help. Sorry to all of you that use this forum correctly. I only intend to offend a certain "click"!

    Storage heaters

The meter is the other side of the wall and the cable goes straight through the wall to the CU.

    Storage heaters

That was the question. It is a PME and as long as the Ze is low some circuits don't have to be RCD protected such as smoke alarms. But I'm a bit confused as to a supply coming straight from the meter via a FCU, which incidently, is outside in the meter box! With a 13A fuse.

    Storage heaters

Hi. Just been to a flat that needs a new CU. It's got three storage heaters fed from three 16A MCB's within the main CU. The output of these MCB's are fed into a 3 pole contactor which feeds the heaters. The contactor is operated via a FCU which in turn is fed from a multi-output Meter. So...

    Earth loop

Sorry. It is a TT. So lower than 200 is ok but I'll still have a look at the rod. I didn't disconnect the main earth just the protective bonding to gas/water and all other circuits. I turned everything else off too. So there was only the one lighting circuit connected and energised. And I was...

    Earth loop

Just been testing a house lighting circuit. Ze was 146.6ohms. Zs was 141.7 ohms. R1+R2 for this circuit is 0.69 ohms. Why is Zs so much lower than Ze? By the way i disconnected all the other earths in the house to carry out this test just to stop parallel paths.

    Boiler FCU in bathroom cupboard.

i've just been to give a quote for a rewire of a three bed house. The owner wants to turn one of the bedrooms into a bathroom. However the combi boiler is in a cupboard in this bedroom and is staying. The power for this is fed via fused spur in this cupboard. Is this allowed? And does it need...

    wiring 2 gang light switches.

Thanks. To clarify, I am adding a second switch and a new twin brown is already run. But I like the 3 core way as I don't want to fit conn block in ceiling rose or ceiling. Thanks for both suggestions. And yes I do know it's notifiable. Thanks again for your help.

    wiring 2 gang light switches.

But that's two cables to the outside light which I don't really want. I know how to wire it up with a JB in the ceiling but it will not be accessible so I can't. It's the old type of wiring (as I've been told), with the live from the ceiling rose being used via a link to both commons in...

    wiring 2 gang light switches.

How do you wire a 2 gang switch? One for a kitchen light and one for the outside light. I've run a twin brown from the ceiling rose to the switch and just need advice on the best way to get power to the outside light using the live fed from the ceiling rose. Thanks.

    Clipped cables to exterior walls.

Is it still within regs to directly clip twin and earth externally to a wall providing the probability of damage is low?

Sinking sockets into lathe + plaster walls.

Hi. Can anyone help with some advice on the best way to sink a socket into a lathe and plaster wall please? I've always surfaced mounted them but a lady last week wanted it sunk into the wall and it proved a bit of a pain. Thanks.
