Hi, I want to insulate my garage roof rafters and the timbers attached at at 45degrees in the picture will make the job a pain but I was wondering if they are actually structurally required, or were they just used in the construction of the roof and just left attached?

I am installing a new bottom outlet toilet to a soil pipe which runs through the concrete in the floor. How do I connect the two together? There is zero clearance between the pan exit and floor level. Is some sort of putty needed?

So I'm installing a new shower with thermostatic valve in my bathroom. The pipes that fed the old shower are grey pushfit pipes (speedfit?). The new shower valve is quite a weighty unit with no screw holes for mounting or anything, so I'm guessing will have to be supported by the pipes...

I filled some holes in my concrete floor about a week ago. I bought one of these ready to mix bags. The concrete still hasn't gone off though. When I scratch the top of it with my nail, I can scratch some off. What have I done wrong?
