How about a high level balanced flue. What boiler is it?

As chris said if there is no screw then twist to the side. If you pull while you are twisting you can usually feel the key pop into the groove, at least then you know its the right place to start pulling.

worked on and installed quite a few saniflo's in letting rooms, never had a smelly one yet but they are noisy and can get damaged if they are misused.

Oh dear Nothing wrong with it when I get there (as usual) tested everything I could test even tested the tester as a good oftec man should :D . I am going to pressure test the oil line in day light. Hopefully theres a bloody great hole in it, at least then the problem has been found.
