Hi thanks for the replies, yes it's g-force by tetrosyl and ep and hypoid. The guy behind the counter reccommended mineral 80- 90 and tetrosyl said afterwards that only ep 80 could be reccommended. I've previously used fully synthetic in an old 405 peugeot g/box without probs though! Thanks...

Hi I've just changed the oil in the van gearbox. It's a 208d pre-sprinter. Specified oil is sae 80. I decided to use fully synthetic 75-90 but have since been advised that this is wrong. Any advice much appreciated!

Hi thanks for that. Do you think the radiator circuit should be flushed as well? I'm almost certain this was not done when the boiler was installed six years ago as a replacement for approx 22 year old Ideal Sprint!

Hi mattylad, the place where manufacture date would normally be displayed just says "manufactured:" but must be missing a stick on date. The receiver was purchased in Aug 2002 however so I'd guess it was made sometime around 2001/2002 .

Unfortunately I've temporarily re-assemled the unit but on the pcb next to the component is printed somthing like C46 and it does look like a small disc capacitor in series with the live input to the transformer. Like you say though an inductor/choke perhaps.

I'd say the unit is repairable, the defective component in this case probably a couple of pounds and ten minutes with a soldering iron. Several years ago the replacement of a component would be easily accomplished by a radio repair shop and for a fraction of the cost of a new unit. These days...
