    A few questions about primer?

Hi, I'm thinking about spray painting some items. I've heard of people just using primer. What is the finish of primer like in comparison to the standard finishes, eg. gloss and matt? I obviously know that gloss is shiny and matt is dull, but i have no idea what primer is like. Can primer be...

Beautiful! that was exactly what he has done, he has taken the control head off and removed the pin that presses down on the valve. Thanks so much!

Tampered thermostat radiator valve control head

Hi, One of my house mates has intentionally broke a couple of thermostat radiator valve control heads, so that they are permanently on. I am rather furious that he has done this because the rooms are hardly used and they leak a large amount of heat. He has also done this on the sly hoping...

    Condensation soaked into plaster

Lets just pretend it is condensation that is causing certain parts of the plaster to get damp. Is there anything to protect it?

simple tester to avoid me electrocuting myself

I call myself shocker because the lads at work use to call me shocker in my first year of my apprentiship. Due to the obvious reason i kept shocking myself. I even managed to weld a mains cable to a panel once just through the heat caused by the short, lol. These days ive learnt my lesson...

simple tester to avoid me electrocuting myself

To be fair you would have to be a dumb f-er to chop through some 5-6 inch thick armoured cable. I meant the cables that are obviously be installed by some cow boy.

simple tester to avoid me electrocuting myself

There is no sure way to find out whether the wire is live unless you chop into it. So if its in the way, why don't you just axe(with wooden handle) through the cable. Chuck a bucket of water on it, making sure you don't get yourself wet in the process. The cable will then short out and blow the...

Really? Is that because there is an infinite amount of colours in the spectrum and primary colours cant even touch parts of the spectrum like ultra violet :O I was close enough with the primary colours to say i haven't looked at primary colours since the early years of my high school life.

How to join a wallpapered wall to a plastered wall?

The wallpaper in both rooms were the same. So i believe the wallpaper was folded around the corner when the person plastered it many years ago. Orange is the old colour of the room that I'm decorating. IL look in to both ideas mentioned, cheers.

    Condensation soaked into plaster

Before i stripped the wallpaper off the walls. There was mold around the two windows, in two corners next to the wall where a bin and a box use to be. In the picture of the corner (with the rc helicopter) the condensation was all down that part of the wall where my wardrobe is. The other picture...

How much did that bad boy set you back? I'm guessing it illuminates the room and not just the ceiling?

    Mood Lighting

To be honest, I'm after these in the primary colours. red, blue and yellow. Then in the room(s) i put these into I'm going to build some electronics to control these lights. So I'm going to paint the room white and be able to change the colours of the walls with the lights. If i am able to...

simple tester to avoid me electrocuting myself

A clamp meter will do. All you do is put the clamp meter around the cable(/put the cable through the clamp meter) and the clamp meter will measure the voltage and if there is any current flowing. It only measures AC. Any cables will probably be carrying mains voltage AC. If its any DC it...

    Mood Lighting

Hey, Ive found these pictures on the Internet. I quite like the idea and i want to put some in my own home. Preferable id like LED versions but if they aren't any available i suppose halogen/bulb versions will do. The question is, what are they called? And where can they be bought from...

    Condensation soaked into plaster

Hey, In a previous topic I've mentioned that the room I'm decorating seems to collect a lot of condensation. The room is an extension, so there are no rooms above or next to the room where the condensation collects. Below is a couple of pictures where the condensation mainly soaks into the...

How to join a wallpapered wall to a plastered wall?

Hey, I'm in the process of decorating a room. The room seems to collect a lot of condensation. Mold appeared on the wallpaper because of this (i think). So Ive removed the wallpaper from the walls. Ive decided that i want to just paint the plaster instead of re wallpapering. Now this room...
