    Another Buteline Thread

Hi I'm about to start running a new central heating install this weekend and have a pile of Buteline ready to use. There seems to be quite a bit of negative comments on this recently. It seems quite popular in the Surrey area (HPS sell loads). This is my house, so I'm starting to think I...

    Interior French Door Lining

Hi After a bit of advice. I'm fitting about 15 linings in my house. I've finished all the singles no problem. I've got a double door lining to fit for an overall 1524 width door but what width would you set the lining at? I was thinking of taking the overall door width and add 1/4 inch. I'm...

    Socket Location

Hi I'm currently marking out switch and socket locations for the electrician. I'm happy with the switch and sockets heights but I can't decide on the socket Distance from doors or wall corners. What are peoples opinions on what looks best? I'm thinking 200mm from an unplastered corner looks...

    Crumbly Mortar

Hi I've just finished blocking up an old door opening. It's been a couple of days and the mortar doesn't seem to have set properly. Some areas are really dusty. If you rub your finger on it, dusty sand comes away. I've used a 4:1 mix by hand. In retrospect, I'm not 100% confident I've mixed...

    1st Fix Plumbing

I like the idea of a solid mechanical connection and no inserts. This is the best system I've come across so far. This probably this or copper to be honest.

    1st Fix Plumbing

Cheers for this. Have you got the name of a good stockist in the UK? I'm going to ring Williams and Co in the morning, but doubt they will stock it. Cheers

Hi Thanks for this. Have you done many Buteline installs? I think I've made my mind up and this will be the system I do for. Thanks

    1st Fix Plumbing

Hi, I'm putting in about 25 radiators. So I don't mind buying the crimp tool. Is Buteline easy to use? Did you have any leaks. I really like the look of it but am worried about it failing at higher temps.

    1st Fix Plumbing

Thanks for the advice. What brand plastic would you recommend? I like the look of Buteline but some people says it's not very good for high temps.

    1st Fix Plumbing

Hi I've got to fit radiators to an extension. All the ceiling joists run perpendicular to run required runs. Ideally I'd like to use copper and run pipes in the centre of the joists. However, I cant see how I would do this? Any good advice? Also, what is the best plastic system. I've been...

Just had a shower and have noticed the house radiators are roasting hot. Could this be a clue. Could the diverter valve be stuck????

Baxi 105e Flame Failure Only with Central Heating

Hi baxipoti, I've seen your replies to loads of other questions in this forum. What do you make of this problem??? Could it be a faulty replacement PCB or the burner pressure????

Baxi 105e Flame Failure Only with Central Heating

OK, will get an engineer out ASAP as we're coming up to winter. Just a quick question.... If the min gas pressure is set incorrectly then why does the boiler work fine when there is a DHW demand??? Thanks

Baxi 105e Flame Failure Only with Central Heating

The water sounds a little more like a trickle. However, the pump does run. Someone else suggested it could be the min setting on the gas valve???

Baxi 105e Flame Failure Only with Central Heating

Yesterday I fitted a new PCB on a Baxi 105e with a “fault on fan or flue” error. It was showing the tell tale signs of a PCB fault (i.e. fan only spinning for a fraction of a turn before cutting out). Once fitted, the hot water demand on the boiler works fine with the boiler firing up as it...

Massive Tiling Problem - Really Need Some Help

Thanks for the info. I'm very reluctant to remove the ply backing unless I really have to. Can I tank the ply? I've had a look at a BAL WP1 kit, would this be suitable or should I bite the bullet and fit a better substrate?
