    Poor Flow

Thanks Softus. I'll research them for one that works on 0.2 bar. Thanks to all for your help - much appreciated as always.

    Poor Flow

snb - is there one that you'd recommend? The one I have is fitted on 154mm centres (if I remember correctly). If I suggest changing to a shower costing another couple of hundred quid you'll understand I need confidence first..

    Poor Flow

Are you saying there is no point in moving the point of hot water supply?

    Poor Flow

Thanks Softis - sounds like moving the hot supply is the way to go. I've no idea what an Essex flange is, or how to demount whatever Hep2o is ! Any chance of a layman's translation for this numpty? Many thanks for your patience

    Poor Flow

Roadyz - thanks. Softus, hopefully here are your pictures. By the way, the bath hot tap filled 6 litres of water into the bucket in about 26 seconds, seemed like good presure. The airing cupboard, left pipe (as we look at it) is cold feed, hot on right. Inline isolator on cold feed...

    Poor Flow

Flow measurements are: cold water takes 28 seconds to put 8 litres into a bucket hot water takes over a minute to do the same. Hot water pressure seems very low. I'll check the wiki to understand, but to reiterate in case I missed out any detail. Thermostatic mixer shower instaled to...

    Poor Flow

Pretty sure there's one of those n the hot (the 1st one I think). If you turn it, it kills the hot water..

    Poor Flow

Softus - don't know but I'll try to get a measurement soon. Plumgas - I've had the filters off (they were clean) and no change. There are no flow restrictors fitted that I know of. There is an isolation valve fitted on both hot and cold. Brand new one on the cold, old wheel one on the hot...

    Poor Flow

Hadn't considered an airlock on the cold supply. Gauge is marked in 0.2 bar gradations, so it's not very clear as to how well 0.3 will register. It's the cold that I've measured previously - sorry, didn't make that clear. I haven't measured the hot though. There is water coming through, but...

    Poor Flow

Thanks Softus. Don't know the model of Mira shower they had previously, only that it was about 8-10 yrs old. Round mixer, exposed valve, not thermostatic. Installed shower is a Synergy, catalogue shows that it requires 0.5 bar pressure. Gauge was from screwfix, suggested on this forum -...

    Poor Flow

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere - I didn;t find it in my searches. I've just installed a thermostatic shower for a friend, and am inevitably having trouble. There is very poor flow. They previously had two Mira showers which worked acceptably well, so it's strange that this one...

    Plastic Pipe and Lagging

Cheer Softus. There are some some 15mm heating pipes available for branching into to install a new rad. I'll research in the WIKI/FAQ and heat the room. Thanks again for yur help - appreciated

    Plastic Pipe and Lagging

Sorry Softus - I didn't give much info. Temperature may well drop to freezing, since leanto isn't heated. Pipes are clipped vertically to the wall. No unusual humidity in the room. I'm not too worried about heat loss, more about burst pipes. Many thanks.....

    Plastic Pipe and Lagging

Hi guys - another potentially dumb question :D I've run hot & cold pipes out into an unheated but fully enclosed area of the house (a leanto). I've used grey plastic pipe and plastic fittings cos they're idiot proof and I'm an idiot. Do these require lagging?

    Wash Hand Basin

BAHCO - many thanks for that. I'll try and get the nut off and lob one of those on. Just for my info, why doesn't it leak when I empty the full basin? Does atmospheric pressure come into play, or is the thing just being sneaky :o

    Wash Hand Basin

Tearing my hair out with this one, can't make sense of it so need your help please ! Modern wash hand basin from Wickes. Hemispherical basin that sits on a wooden table. Tall mixer tap sits behind it, also on the same table. Pop up waste fits onto chrome bottle trap below the surface of the...

    B&Q Selling Consumer units

Seems fairly straightforward to me. Boiler installation must be done by CORGI registered folk, therefore not DIY. B&Q is a DIY store, ergo it should not sell boilers. CU installation must be done by registered folk, therefore not DIY, ergo it should not sell CUs. Or am I missing something ?

    Cooker wiring

The dreaded B&Q will sell you heat-resistant flex to suit. Screwfix supply too but you'll incur postage charges. If you have a reasonably friendly wholesaler handy I'm sure they'll help you out. The installation instructions supplied with the oven should specify the type of H05 cable to be used.

    Inspiration Required !

Bahco - is that a sleeve or similar that fits over the existing faulty connector? It's the seal in the connector that appears to have persihed, and of course I can't get the connector off because it goes through a small hole in a double skin brick wall.
