    Boiler On Off On Off

Hi I have a problem with my Ravenheat Whitestar. When the hot tap is opened, the boiler starts ok, then the pilot light goes after a minute, then it comes back on, then goes again. Occasionally it will stay on for a while. Sometimes, especially with the central heating, the boiler will...

    Ravenheat Whitestar Combi Boiler

A guy came out to look at this tonight. He couldn't find the exact problem but says the circuit board needs replaced which is expensive. He has recommended I use the British Gas fixed price deal. Since he left I have had a hot shower and had the heating on for 2 hours before I turned it...

Boiler not firing sometimes for DHW when cold!

This sounds like the problem I have with my Ravenheat Whitestar. Do you get waves of cold water through your hot? I had noticed that on warmer days my problem is very slight as compared to cold mornings.

    Fixed Price Boiler Repairs

I know that Scottish/British Gas offer a fixed price repair for £164, but does anyone know of a better deal than this? Also, if I call a plumber/boiler engineer, how likly am I to find one that will come out and quote for free in the way that a roofer would? Any info on the average price...

    Ravenheat Whitestar Combi Boiler

The boiler seems to stay on all the time, but as the boiler is almost totally encased I can't see much. The green light stays on anyway - but the ignition is not visible without removing the case.

    Ravenheat Whitestar Combi Boiler

Hi I have a Ravenheat Whitestar boiler which is just over 2 years old. Recently, I have been experiencing waves of cold water through my hot taps, which has got progressively worse to the point that I now get just cold water with occasional hot waves. My central heating does not appear...

    Leaking Radiator

John, I have now taken the bolt off the end of the rad (the bleed valve i think) About a pint of water came out. The bolt has a smooth disc base, rubber coated threads, a metal washer and hexagonal bolt, with the screw inside a plastic mounting.

    Leaking Radiator

Thanks Im not entirely sure how to answer your question. The screw has a square head - I just bleedthe radiator by inserting a screw driver and turning it. As for getting the screw out, how would I go about this? The screw just turns round and round without ever seeming to come out totally.

    Leaking Radiator

    Leaking Radiator

Hi I have a leaking radiator. The leak is from the screw that is tightened/loosened to bleed the radiator. The water doesnt seem to be coming from the same hole as when the radiator is bled, but seems to come from along the actual screw. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks

Clearing Air From Boiler - How?

Thanks. I have notified Scottish Water and they have agreed to send a plumber out and taken all responsibility. I take it a plumber will be able to sort this out quite easily?

    Ravenheat - The White Star

Ive been in touch with Scottish Water who are arranging to have a plumber sent out tomorrow. I think with the proximity of the water being cut off and then the boiler going they must be related. They think it is an air lock. Thanks for the help

    Ravenheat - The White Star

There is the normal noise like a flowing noise, which i assume is the pump. There is also intermitant ticking which I assume is the fan. Turning it off at the mains didnt help

    Ravenheat - The White Star

I assume the gas is on - the water was cut in quite a lot of postcodes locally. The boiler takes about 2 minutes to lockout. It was working perfectly last night

    Ravenheat - The White Star

I have now switched it off at the mains. I think the fan is working as it seems to be making a noise, although everything is enclosed so i cant actually see.

Clearing Air From Boiler - How?

In relation to my other post entitled 'Ravenheat - White Star', I now think from doing alot of reading from various sources but specifically the manual that the problem is air in the boiler/heating circuit. As I said, my water went off this morning and prior to this the boiler was fine. Now...

    Ravenheat - The White Star

Thanks for the reply It makes a noise for a 1 - 2 minutes, as if it is trying to ignite, but then the red light comes on. The boiler was in perfect working condition when I went to bed last night before the water went off and hasnt worked since the water came back on. Is an Air-Lock a...
