    Hob recall.

I bought it off eBay and it looks like I bought it off cookology themselves. I'm guessing they'll have to pay BG but I don't know if that is cheaper for them than replacing the hob. The wife is currently using a single induction hob that I got off Amazon for £30. It's really good apart from...

    Hob recall.

I think I'd have to get the same hob as the hole for it in the worktop has been cut. I'm going to get in touch with them and ask for a replacement rather than a refund. See what happens.

    Hob recall.

I've just checked and I bought it last November. It's still in the box but I doubt they will entertain a return. I might just write it off and buy something else anyway.

    Hob recall.

It seems to be the elbow which can fail. It has affected a lot of makes. https://registeredgasengineer.co.uk/technical/information-alert/

    Hob recall.

Hi all I'd be very grateful if a gas fitter could answer a question for me. The beginning of this year I bought a cookology gas hob as part of a planned kitchen tart up. The kitchen was put off till just recently and now it's time to get the hob fitted. In August I got a letter telling me...

    Basin tap

I took it apart and changed the rubber washer. I had some washers from a packet I bought for a garden tap that dripped and they were the same size. I cleaned the seat where the washer sits, put it back together and that seems to have cured it. If it happens again I'll change the taps.

    Basin tap

Hi all. A bathroom basin cold tap has developed a problem. When I turn it on the water comes out with a bang. I can turn it a few degrees nothing happens, then suddenly the water comes out with a water hammer like bang. It does it every time. It's an old style tap not a quarter turn.

    Patio door profile.

I think I'll just drill a hole in the bottom of the trim to get a screwdriver in. I can always put a white screw cap over the hole. There is a space at the bottom but I couldn't get the angle for a screwdriver. I lifted the door up at the bottom just a little which gave me space to get in and...

    Patio door profile.

I think I've give up trying to remove that trim. I've actually had a 4" wide scraper behind it at the bottom and it still wouldn't pull away. I pulled it away a couple mm almost it's full length using a number of scrapers but it just popped back again. I feel if I apply more force it will damage it.

    Patio door profile.

Ah well that's cheered me up. If they're all the same then buying elsewhere I'd still have the problem. I'll likely put 25mm D mouldings between the frame and the plasterboard and cover the chamfer. One other thing I've got a problem with is getting the capping strip off the end of the sliding...

    Patio door profile.

Yeah that makes sense. The frame is 88mm and that chamfer is 18mm so reduces it to 70mm. As Cackat says it makes it look less bulky but, I think it looks a bit crud and creates extra problems for me. If I'd realised it was like that before buying I'd have bought elsewhere. Ah well you live and...

    Patio door profile.

The picture is part of the left jamb viewed from the outside. Where it contacts the wood frame it's chamfered about 45 degrees. The frame is that profile on all four pieces. The inside of the frame doesn't have that chamfer and I'm wondering what is it there for? As the door is between two...

    Patio door profile.

Hi all I'm fitting a patio door made from Selecta profiles. I'm wondering why the outside of the frame sections slopes inwards at the edge. What I mean is the outside of the frame, all four sections, look like in the photo attached. Can anyone tell me why it's made with that shape profile? Why...

    Water backing up

I ran the camera to the stack there was no blockages just white pipe with a bit of staining. The camera went into the stack, it was easy to tell by the increase in diameter. I pulled the camera back a bit and flushed the toilet. I could see the toilet water flowing down the stack. The end of the...

    Water backing up

Yeah the house has a two storey stack that is ventilated. This main stack is about 3m from the downstairs shower room stack.

    Water backing up

Hi all. My shower tray waste started to back up a few weeks ago. It reached the point where I had to turn the water off mid shower and wait a couple of minutes for it to drop. There was no apparent blockage close to the tray and running a 8mm dia drain snake through it went all the way through...

    Glass isn't flat.

The glass wasn't as bad as I first thought. I put the top and bottom beads in and the bow was only a few millimetres in the middle of the length. The long beads went in no trouble and the jobs finished now thankfully. The bow looked huge with a straight edge on the glass but wasn't any real...

    Glass isn't flat.

Just had another look and the bow is about 6mm in the middle. Placing a straight edge piece of wood against the glass edge and pressing the unit in the middle, I can straighten it fairly easily. Will the beads hold it ok if I carry on and fit them? There's three panes with a side panel and all...

    Glass isn't flat.

Hi all. I'm fitting some double glazed uPVC french doors. The frames are in but now I'm putting the 28mm units into the frames I notice they are bowed. The glass units touch the seals top and bottom but there is about a 10mm gap in the middle. Putting a long straight edge on the glass shows the...

    Bricklaying profiles

This picture the profiles look like they're going to stop him finishing the part of the joints directly behind. So if he isn't finished does he take the profile down, do the pointing then put it back the next day to carry on with the wall? I suppose there's no other way to do it.
