    Swing / climbing frame brackets

Can anyone recommend a supplier of brackets for round poles suitable for a climbing frame / swing etc. All the ones I've seen so far are really expensive. eg: http://www.blacksheepplay.co.uk/climbing-frame-components-hardware/126-swing-corner-bracket-right-round-100mm-100mm.html...

    Sofabed replacement springs

We have a sofabed which has been stored and the springs which tension the bed base have gone rusty. They're on three sides of the bed base - see image below. I want to replace them. Any idea where I can buy some more? They're very strong, about 75mm long, and I need 34 of them.

    Sealing BSPP fittings

That's my understanding. I can see that PTFE / Loctite 55 may work, but I don't think it works by design. So, going with the washer approach (apologies to all the PTFE promoters for now - I may be back with you when the washer leaks!) what sort of washer or seal do I want? I've seen a few...

    Sealing BSPP fittings

I thought PTFE is for tapered threads, not parallel ones. OK, I could bung it up with PTFE, but is that really the proper way to do it?

    Sealing BSPP fittings

I have a radiator with BSP parallel threads. I want to fit BSP-male to 15mm couplers and use a shaped piece of 15mm pipe to connect to the radiator valves rather than using standard tails. I've bought some straight couplers from Screwfix (item 67110). I expected these to some with rubber or...

    Threads in ProRad radiators

Does anyone know whether the threads in ProRad radiators are BSP tapered or BSP straight with a flange seal? The ProRad spec just says 1/2" BSP.

New Radiators to old pipes - distance from wall

I've made a bit of progress. The good news is that I've found a supplier of rads with small wall to pipe centre distances! Prorad make a type 11 which is 33 or 55mm from wall to pipe centres, and a type 21 which is 56 or 78mm. The type 11 is fine. The old rad was a type 11 at 1080mm wide...

New Radiators to old pipes - distance from wall

The problem is getting new radiators "thin" enough. I cannot find a single panel that is 35mm or less from centres to wall. And really we want a type 21 (2 panels, single set of fins) for the 55mm centre to wall distance. I can't find one of those either. I could put a single panel...

New Radiators to old pipes - distance from wall

I need to find two new radiators to fit onto existing pipes which are fixed in a tiled / concrete floor. There's very little pipe movement available - a few mm at most. I don't want to force them to move too much, as damaging them in the floor would be a disaster! One is 35mm from pipe...

    New radiators different size

I want to replace two radiators in our kitchen with a couple of bog-standard replacements, but cannot seem to find the same sizes. Height is fine. The old ones are 1350mm and 1085mm wide. The closest I can seem to buy are 1300 or 1400, 1000 or 1100. If I go for the under-size options, How do...

    Air collecting in one radiator

The water is black, yes. It's been drained down several times in the last 3 years, and always had inhibitor put back in it. At one point I added a flushing agent for a few weeks first. That radiator is about to come off and be replaced with a smaller one. It's the 2nd one in the circuit...

    Air collecting in one radiator

So why only one radiator? And how do I stop it happening?

    Air collecting in one radiator

We have an old fashioned CH setup - heater tank in the loft, not a high pressure or sealed system. For some reason one radiator keeps collecting air. There's no water leaks. Where is the air coming from? Ant

Crabtree Starbreaker - upgrade to full RCD, or RCBOs?

So going down the RCBO route, I'm pretty happy to spec the ratings, but what type do I need? There are different physical sizes, right?

Crabtree Starbreaker - upgrade to full RCD, or RCBOs?

Hi all, I have a crabtree starbreaker consumer unit which brand new about 3 yrs ago, just before the wiring regs changed. The rest of the wiring is a mix of original 1971, or added when the consumer unit was put in. I now want some work done on the kitchen electrics, so need to upgrade the...

Help fitting replacement CH header tank

Okay dokey. Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going to fit another tank connector in the top next to the lid. Couldn't find a breather like on the bigger tanks, but I guess this only has significant draw when the CH is being refilled, and it will vent through the overflow anyhow. Ant

Help fitting replacement CH header tank

I'm replacing an old CH header tank with a 4 gallon Polytank from Screwfix. This is for an open vented CH system. The old tank has mains feed, outlet, vent pipe and overflow (and no lid). The new polytank comes with connections for the mains feed, outlet, and overflow, but nothing for the...

Fitting skirtings - frame fixings? Hammer fixings?

Mine are now fitted. Hammer fixings were useless - I couldn't get them to pull the skirting tight to the wall. Ended up drilling wood and marking wall, removing skirting, drilling wall, countersinking skirting, rawl plugs in wall, replace and fit with screws. Swapping the drill bits is a...
