    Anyone recognise these monsters!?

Tumbleweed is another gysophlate based weedkiller, about a third of the price of ru for that matter. For heavens sake, get the concentrate and mix your own up, don't waste your money on the pre-mixed sprayer, you're paying £££'s for water with a single dose in it. Also, consider your local...

    Over hanging trees - prunning

If you have the council's permission (in writing for best safety) allowing you to have the work done, and you are confident in your own ability to do the work yourself, go for it! But, if like me, you have no head for heights, or a bad back, it's not that expensive to get a tree fella in who...

    Trimming Conifers

When I moved to where I am now, there was a row of conifers at the end of the garden which backed onto a neighbour's garden. In the past, these had been hacked at and all the green growth had gone from the neighbours side. When I got around to it, I cut the dead growth off, and all the...

    Music files

Real Player Plus (V10) will sort on artist name or song. Also, JetPlayer will, though it's not as easy to figure that out! With Real simplyy click on the heading you want to sort on, with jet, you need to go down several right click menus to get the same, but either work. Jetplayer is...

    moss and algae slippage

Actually.... no. Armatillox has been removed from the catagory of garden disinfectant, as has Jeyes Fluid! BUT the goods are both on sale, unaltered, but in new packaging. Go figure! :?

    moss and algae slippage

Jeyes Fluid or Armatillox will kill the moss spores and clean your paths too. Less destructive than bleach on your clothes and plants around the path, BUT they do stink! Swill it on, as per the instructions on the can, and brush over the path and moss. Should kill within a week or so.

I got a right cracker here!

A Christmas Cracker actually! For our schools' carol concert, I've been asked to make a STAR with six points out of a 4 X 4 sheet of ply, then install half a dozen lights, switched individually, so that they can be switched on as the different groups of characters arrive at t'inn. Then...

    Plasterboard ceilings

I've done both, much prefer to overboard though! Far less mess to clear up and still able to breathe, even WITH a mask! Consider 4 X 3 boards as well, if you're not used to them, the 8X4 are seriously heavy, esp when you are trying to manouver above your heads. And get some black jap...

    Insecure Ie6

Had a similar thing occur with a guestbook. Someone posted a "comment" that redirected into a hard core site, so no one could view the guestbook, or sign it, without been sent to this awful site.   Trouble was, somehow, they had also stopped their post appearing on the...

    moving conifers

Agreed, it's very unlikley that a conifer of this sort of size will transplant, but, you can always try. Make sure they are well watered for a few days before you start, have the new hole ready dug out for the oversized rootball, and try not to damage any of the roots as you lift it. Good luck!

    Miracle weedkiller

Have you tried Pathclear? That should be ideal for paved areas, don't use it on the garden or near to a bed, it'll kill everything there too! Alternatively, anything with gysoplate (or something that sounds like that)

    XP LOGON

Do a system restore to before youinstalled this bit of software? Sounds like it's not compatiable with something on your system. If like me, you can't get to system restore normally (after installing XP SP2 which doesn't work on 64bit machines), try going though safe mode, then restore via...

    Egg on Car

It does eventually wear off. I was done the other year at the so called "Mischievious Night", licensed vandalism more like!   If I'd ever caught the little thugs, they would have eat the egg and flour mix off my car! It took hours to wash off late that night...

    Fushia bush/plant

Hi, you'd probably do as well to take a few cuttings from this bush fuchsia BEFORE you think about moving it, just so you have a few replacements in reserve. To lift it, you need to make sure it's well watered first, then dig around your bush, keeping as much rootball as possible, without...

    Cutting back trees

Silly question, what sort are the trees? And yes, get the Professionals in! I've got a pollarded Horse Chestnut in my garden and will be thinking about cutting a few of the lower branches out this autumn, once I see the bare bones. BUT if it involves the higher branches, like above me head...

Service Pack 2 for Windows XP

Another boring post, going back to the original post. If, like me, you have one of these new fangled beasties with 64bit workings, DON'T install SP2! It really DOES screw things up. Works fine on an old machine running XP, but on this new AMD 64bit, whoa! Seemed to install fine, restarted...
