Replacing fascia, soffits and barge boards with UPVC

Vinty's right there. Don't waste your money at the DIY chain stores. They're making a cool fortune. Check what you want and get down the builder's merchants. They don't bite and they know what they're on about. I'd argue about removing the existing fascia though. UPVc lasts a long time...

Corner of roof leaking - have taken photos...

Hiya, Some new builds use that system but it doesn't really deal with your problem. You'll still need to find out where the water is getting in. That mortar will still need repointing and, once done, you won't really need the dry verge. I bet you're cringing at this fine weather we have...

    Google.

Hiya DP, Google should be equivalent in speed to Yahoo. Maybe it's your PC running slow. There's a small application called 'CCleaner' from piriform that cleans a lot of crap off your hard drive that disk cleanup doesn't touch. That might help. Sometimes if you leave your PC on for long...

Corner of roof leaking - have taken photos...

Hard to judge with those photos. The '50 yards away in the dark' one was LOL. This is by no means definitive but ...that kind of damp is often caused by one or two cracked tiles and then water pooling. Sometimes felt can sag between the outside skin and the rafter if it hasn't been...

    Combi madness...don't laugh.

Giblets, I contacted the agents last week and am still waiting for action. To be fair to the agents, they have their own problems to deal with too. One was having a crisis about the cost of replacing the lo-pro tyres on his 'privacy glass' Range Rover. You'd need a heart of stone not to...

TINY HOLE IN FELT CAUSING LEAK..REPAIR POSSIBLE FROM INSIDE?

Hiya Lucretius, I'm not a roofer but have worked on a lot of roofs. Silicone would be a stopgap but it won't go off in anything other than very dry conditions. You'd be better off having a look at the slates for any breaks and cracks first. Unfortunately, slates are more difficult to approach...

    Combi madness...don't laugh.

Thanks slugbabydotcom, I refined my search and have the manual. Previous forum searches advised that Ariston don't do manuals online. Looks like a pressure problem and , hopefully, easy enough to address myself. I'm on just over half a bar when I should be above one bar. Funnily enough, the...

    Combi madness...don't laugh.

Cheers Tony, I'm laughing when I should be getting the hump. I didn't expect many replies OR random comedians. I saw a reply and you got my hopes up. You should go and think about what you've done...tut tut. We're gonna go out on the excuse that it's too cold, so it's not all bad!

    Retreiving deleted pictures

A company called called Greenstreet provide recovery programs that will retrieve jpgs and word docs. I think you'll have to pay for it and there's no guarantee that you'll recover many of them.

    virus eliminator

Hiya Jefoss, Run another virus scan to check. Some viruses get buried in 'system restore'. If it's quarantined just leave it there. A second opinion can be gained by using Trendmicro housecall or Pandascan (free reputable online scanners). Keep your anti virus software up to date.

software for downloading videos of you tube.

Yep, Tim's right. Free Realplayer will record most online content. It's all you need and plays BBC (but can't rip it) You can then convert to other media types if you want to. Be warned that YouTube is pretty poor for quality. If you go for the full Realplayer it can burn DVDs of your files...

    Combi madness...don't laugh.

Hiya, I've recently moved into a new house (rented) and am having a lot of trouble with the Ariston Eurocombi. There are no instructions to be found. I've used combis many times and found them pretty obvious to use. This one is practically taunting me. I've been on the Grasslin site (timer...
