Installing sunroof in a new car

I remember back in the 70's when retro fit sunroofs were all the rage. There was hell on when Hillman Avenger owners (Plymouth Cricket in the USA) had them done and later turned up for an MOT as it was an instant failure and complete write off because the roof carried a main structural member...

    Mondeo TDCI Hydrolic clutch problem

IF - and I emphasise IF - It's like the Vectra C, then the clutch hydraulics are fed from the brake resovoir. Give the brake system a full bleed.

    Ravenheat boiler

We have a Ravenheat combi boiler which was in the house when we moved in - we don't know the history, but when we had the gas fire fitted we had the CORGI fitter inspect the boiler and he passed it. He said it was only 2-3 years old. But now it has started to trip out on the central heating...

    Mini legend

Please dont knock the new MINI as the O.5 series. BMiniW or whatever is in vogue - I, too was hurt when BMW took it over, but having driven one I was flabbergasted at what a truly brilliant piece of engineering this little car is - and those staggering sales figures will bear me out, even after...

    s-type jag

75 by far the better car, esp. with KV6 - and easier to sell on when the time comes. Neighbour is a car dealer and says good 75's just fly off the forecourt now people are starting to wake up to how good they are. People still equate Jags with fuel/insurance/repair costs.

Another reason why our country is going down the pan.

Lotus is pretty much British - uses the Rover K series V V C unit also. The new 'Mini' was designed in California by an American, and uses a Brazillian engine. The most British of cars are generally still the Rovers/MG's - the 75 was designed here (with BMW cash) and designed with UK...

    Those cheap 240v SDS drills....

You know, that cost around 30 quid and come with a set of bits, spare brushes, and a little pot of grease. Makro, and a lot of independents sell them. Are they any good? (Will they last more than an afternoon?) Or should I forget it and save up for that Makita in Screwfix?

    pesky tile spacers

I tend to push them back thru with a small screwdriver and re-grout over the top. Use the same grout compound so she won't notice!

Boiler not ignighting after sytem drain

    1) Is the cover off the boiler? If so, replace it - some wont ignite without it! 2) I did have something similar with a Glow Worm, and it was only after much draining down, refillling and then finally in desperation stripping the boiler I found that the piezo ignitor was duff thru disuse.........
