WASHING MACHINE PUMPS WATER INTO SINK.

When my Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 empties water before the spin cycle the water comes up into the kitchen sink. When the pump stops the water drains away as with normal sink water. This is a new problem. My guess is that the drain pipe from sink to grid, about 3 metres in length, is partially...

BOSCH DISHWASHER. Do I have a problem or is it imagination?

I have a Bosch dishwasher. (ENR No: SGS4012 GB/14). It is about 8 years old and appears to be working perfectly. However I can hear the inlet valve switching on and off about 16 times at the start of each fill. That's 50 times every wash. I suspect this is a fault but the answer from Bosch is...

    FM RADIO - AWFUL RECEPTION

I have a bed-side FM Sony Radio. I use it to listen mostly to BBC Radio 4 and Radio 2. It can have perfect reception or total interference when it is moved even a few inches. It is 10 ft from the window. It has a 2 ft. dangly wire aerial and it's driving me bonkers. I can move the power...

    Recharging non-rechargeable batteries

I often read that there are special chargers that will recharge ordinary AA batteries " up to 10 times". Is it feasible to stick non-rechargeable AA alkaline batteries in a normal charger to get more out of them, or does this damage the charger? Norsey

My prized VHS videos need transferring to DVDs.

The time has come to face the daunting task of putting about 20 full VHS tapes of home videos on to dvds. I have a VHS player and need to buy an appropriate DVD recorder. Can this task be done easily? Can I do it just using the TV and not my computer? I'm not planning any editing. Any advice...

    Bosch Dishwasher inlet valve

Hi, Do we have any dishwasher experts today? My Bosch dishwasher is about 6 years old. When water is entering, at several points during the cycle, the inlet valve doesn't just open once, it opens about 9 or 10 times. Is this a fault. It can be heard opening and closing sometimes once a...

    DISH WASHER BANGING

I've got a 6 year old Bosch dishwasher. It switches on every night by timer whilst I get my beauty-sleep. Recently I have been awakened every night, part way through the 1 hour cycle by a banging noise which I hear from my bedroom. It seems to go on for about 30 or 40 seconds at 2 second...

    Mains stopcock buried in cement

A stupid path repairer, who has now disappeared, blocked the stopcock inside my boundary, with cement. That was 8 years ago. Whose responsiblity is the stopcock? Is it automatically mine as it is on my property? How can it be repaired, by the water board? How do they stop the water flow...

Hot water problem. Halstead Ace High

My Ace High combi boiler works ok for central heating, but the hot water has developed a problem. The water runs hot intermittantly, then cold. I also notice the hot water light never comes on. Does anyone recognise this problem and have any suggestions? Thanks, Norsey.
