downlights covers

Hi there, I have some downlights in my bathroom that are a nightmare. The covers won't come off to change the bulbs. They are just the twist ones. When I try to remove the entire downlight it feels like I will pull the ceiling/plaster down. I have already popped the plaster on the one in the shower
