0.75mm cable question

Hello members,

I would like to wire some lighting from 0.75mm cable which currently serves a 100w bulb through a rose.

Would this serve 200watts of halogen lighting ok?

Yes, but why do you want to see flex coming out of a ceiling rose and going into a light fitting?

Oh, im sorry maybe i should have been clearer with my question.

0.75mm cable runs through the eaves in the house and connects to a rose which in turn has 0.75mm cable.

I want to replace the rose with a few halogen lights.

200watts in total.

Depends on OPD, 0.75mm looks to be rated at 6A without any de-rating factors applied.

The cable is rated at 6amp and 1440watt max.

do you need more info?

The lights are 200watt mains (no transformers) so the current should be low i think 0.83Amp?

The overcurrent protective device is there to protect the cable.
What size is the fuse or MCB for the lighting circuit?
0.75mm flex shouldn't really be used for installation on a fixed lighting circuit.
It's fine for pendant drops but that's about it.

The circuit is protected by a 5 amp circuir breaker.

The run of 0.75mm cable is probably about 10-15 metres long which currently supplies the rose.

Will the voltage drop much over that length of cable?

I dont know why 0.75mm cable was used to feed the rose but it would involve a lot of work replacing it. Thats why I would like to still use it to run the 4x50w halogens off.

Take it back, and buy the right stuff for the job.
