Hi All.
After some guidance.
I have replaced a plastic 1 gang light switch face plate which controls the light in the downstairs toilet and the extractor fan in the toilet, with a 1 gang metal face plate.
The power is wired to the plug so I have 4 cables in the switch ( power in, power out, light, extractor) which is very busy in a small space.
i have found that fitting 4 earth wires into the metal faceplate is tricky and they don’t seem very secure, I also can’t run a fly lead to the back box as can’t fit an additional wire in the terminal.
I wondered if a solution to this would be to terminate the earths in a wago, rather than directly into the faceplate and then run a wire from the wago to the faceplate and metal back box instead.
Is this allowed / does it seem scceptable, or do I need to leave the CPC’s directly in the faceplate terminal.
The socket has at least one fixed lug so I could leave the fly lead to the back box as I believe if there is one fixed lug then this is acceptable.
However I would prefer a belt and braces approach when doing DIY.
