Sounds like a failed pump, see FAQ !
Also the thermostat seems a little slow to react. Hopefully turning it down would enable the boiler to turn off before it boils the water.
Its a pretty old boiler and overdue for replacement. It qualified for the £400 scrappage scheme last year!
