Well I learned one thing from this thread. Never heard of a wet cam belt.

Me neither, but then I'm an old fart who has never progressed beyond points/condensers

Things I have found cracked tyres, fragile plastic/rubber pipes, meant leaking petrol pipes (twice) and coolant pipes. As I said to mechanic " I would rather replace plastic bits outside the engine, than metal bits inside the engine''

The plastic plague has been prolific for decades, even on prestige cars. My 25 year old BMW has much of the all-important cooling system made of the stuff.
