Hi All,

I want to extend my heating (which I installed last year) to include my extension - which includes a small utility room and toilet.

The radiators are small, 350W and 300W ish. Because of the concrete floor construction, I want to embed the pipes in the wall.

The question is, is 10mm pipe likely to be ok for supplying both of them, in parralel? or would i need to run separate feeds to each from a manifold?

The first one is about 1.5m from 15mm flow and return stubs that i left under the kitchen floor for when I got round to doing this; the next radiator is about 1m further away, in the same direction.

Thanks

With such a low output they should work fine as long as you very carefully balance then!

Few people seem to be able to properly balance radiators!

thanks for the comments. another possibility is to put 15mm in the wall, and tee off the 15mm in 10mm for each rad. is that likely to work better?

Theoretically, yes.
I'd agree with Tony - we've all seen worse travesties working. If you use TRV's (which would help with the balancing), note the size of the hole the water has to go through, it's often 4 - 5 mm. I think a metre or two of 10mm would be rather less resistance than that.

Balance rads ? Is that when you try to achieve the return water temp to be the same as the feed ?

Or have i got it totally wrong..

to me balancing can mean one or both of two things

1- balance rads so they all heat up equally
2- balance rads so they heat up equally and with the required temp differential between F and R's

i thought ballancing rads was when you carried them up a ladder on a 2nd fix when the stairs were not fitted.
